Hi! Welcome to the forum.

Post long, post often, as Mathman says. :)

I don't know when they'll announce it but presumably they will wait to see how Kovtun performs at Euros and after some test skate with Plushenko. They'll certainly announce their decision before February 6. ;)

I think that I read that it will be announced 27th of January or right before that date.

^I wonder what would happen if the podium ends up:

1. Fernandez
2. Voronov
3. Kovtun

That would be a head scratcher...

I read 25th of January.

I feel plushenko announced it by leaving euros.

I think there were two days announced in two different articles (one from Gorshkov and another one from maybe Piseev, I am not sure).

I think the fact that Kovtun was not already named -- after he beat Plushenko -- says everything.

Oh the drama. and of course they are also going to see how K and S are doing as well. Interesting - very interesting.

Kovtun is responsible for the disaster last year. He proved now again he is not consistent enough. They should send Plushenko or Voronov.

Order of finish Euros:

1 Javier FERNANDEZ
2 Sergei VORONOV
3 Konstantin MENSHOV
4 Michal BREZINA CZE
5 Maxim KOVTUN RUS

Olympics is even bigger pressure, but he's on home ice.
He got huge scores at CoR with a Russia-friendly tech and judge panel....

I think Plushenko will be on the team. If the Russian Fed was looking for a way to justify sending him, seeing Kotvun finish behind two Russians at Euros will do it.
