Thanks, KinoriH, for finding that link. I don't know what the rules are for stopping a program but they seemed to have accepted the problem, and let them continue. It's funny, that costume deserved to be cut up into lots of tiny pieces. The worse costume I've ever seen in fact, on anyone, ever. I was wondering how the older man got hold of a pair of scissors so quickly! But through it all, Max behaved like a gentleman (not surprisingly).

The rules for stopping a program are saying that the skater must approach the judges and explain what the problem is. After that the judges decide if they can continue from when they stoppd. They almost never let skaters start their profram from the beginning.
max's instincs were right. What I love about him is that he truly cares about the health/saftey of his partners. He almost never puts them at risk. :)
and his expressions in the K&c... i can't even. ;)

I understand that this forum is about Max and Tati, but all of us should respect other skaters (Maria, Aliona etc.) as well. We don't know them personally and most 'accusations' are just based on assumptions. It is understandable that some fans would like to defend their favorite skaters but it should not be done by making comments that degrades other skaters. Every person has their own personalities and so do we. Who are we to judge others so harshly when all of us have flaws? It is unfair to judge others based on their appearances for we do not know what they have been through and their own private lives.

I'm sorry if I offend somebody with this post, but just know that I do it out of love; and as an older person (in age), it is an important lesson to learn in life to respect others even with our words.
Thank you thank you thank you!! TBH I´m not interested AT ALL in Maria. She´s in the past and wasn´t good for Maxim so let´s not talk about her unless it´s REALLY necessary (which I doubt).

I wonder if the admiration Maxim had for Tanya in the past was only about her skating skills or if he actually found her good looking back then as well.

I bet he did. There weren't many nice, good looking, young female skaters in the russian team at that time.. There are a few pics of them together from 2008-09. It seems like he always liked being in her company, I mean, who wouldn't? :) she's one of the brightest, most optimistic people I've ever seen.

You´re so right! Also if he wanted to skate with her for her skills AND for her beauty, no wonder he fell in love in the end. Of course that wasn´t something he planned (falling in love I mean) but it was quite obvious that he would, especially since they appeared to have amazing chemistry from the beginning.

I´m sure it has to do with Maxim being through so much. We all know he had admired her for quite some time (anybody know how long?) before they started to skate together. He was so unhappy in his partnership with Maria. I´m sure it was the dream of his life back then to skate with Tanya. Then he got the chance. The more his partnership with Tanya progressed, the more his eyes started to shine and he became SO expressive. The dream of his life soon also became the love of his life. Now he always describes himself as the happiest man on earth thanks to Tanya.

Well said! And I firmly believe that Tanya is as crazy about Max as he is about her. They just have different personalities and different ways of expressing themselves -- Max more often to be the one to show things more outwardly. I don't think we have to worry about there being an unbalanced amount of love and affection for each other :) Loved the Hemingway quote and Max's "like". Pretty awesome

Can't believe what happened with Max's sleeve in that performance (did he not realize beforehand that it was too tight and more than those muscles could handle? ha ha), but see.....that's just another reason to stay away from the silly costumes. I do agree Annafer -- he looked really good there -- but for me it was the good hair day and just the fact that he was in black

let's be honest, comparing with other Russian women, Tanya is not beautiful but her happiness, optimism and as Max says she always shining, makes her beautiful. Also, she is the best female skater

 That may be your opinion, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think Tanya is classy, elegant, and stunning.

An interview in Russian where they talk about how different they are in their tastes, yet how they compliment each other, also about the past and future of figure skating and of the quality of their skating. About how giving one's medal to the more deserving opponent will not make any difference at all because the records cannot be changed anyway, about the very smart way they took to make their programs medal worthy, in terms of smart choreography, calculated difficulty of elements, etc. In fact they turned it into a science.
http://expert.ru/russian_reporter/2013/04/vzorvat-figurnoe-katanie/

I saw somewhere a documentary about that-that a whole team of various professionals was brought in to consult on costumes, sound, expressions etc for maximum effect before their first world championship. I guess they did not feel they had time for trials and errors, so they took the science and math approach to everything.

EDIT: They had a KISS CAM during the WC in Japan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG_BKWyPn1A Shame they didn't spot V/T in the crowd... it would have been hilarious. and adorable.
Well, we had the Russia 1 TV channel "kiss cam" during the Closing ceremony

Tanya not beautiful? Oh, wow

Thank you eli for the interview, very interesting. Didn't Max once say that Tanya went as far as to calculate every extra point a harder element would bring and decided what is worth and what it's not worth? I think both of them are very smart and know exactly what to do to impress both technically and choreography wise, of course with the help of the specialists.

The World's in 2011 was their first real competition and no one wanted them to look badly at that.
But they certainly put a lot of effort into that by all the experts they've hired for that
In the end it was good they did it, 'cause it paid off ;)

I think in that context Tanya mentioned once that she was so nervous before the FS that she was pacing from left to right and a security man had to cheer her up again and encourage her

Hi. I am aware that the posts here should be positive and so I did say “I’ll not go on about it…’” It may be that some who have been posting on this thread for a while have already spoken their minds and said their piece on a negative issue or two. For those of us who are newer, it’s hard, when you learn information that is upsetting or come upon an old video which seems to illustrate some injustice, not to refer to it or comment on it. But I will try to keep my reactions to myself!

And it is true, too, that we don’t know personally the people we comment on -- what has happened to them in their lives, what drives them, what disappointments they have endured, what obstacles they’ve overcome. We do often have their statements and interviews where we can draw some conclusions, but mostly we have just our subjective take on things and our powers of observation. Actually, if you think about it, we don’t really know Tatiana and Maxim personally either, yet we dare to offer our thoughts about their motivations, their plans, whatever.

And last but not least, in fact I DO think that Tatiana and Maxim love each other with equal fervor. But I have been deeply moved, and continue to be moved, by Max’s uninhibited show of affection for Tatiana. I think he’s an unusually honest example of the male species – so perhaps I am overly impressed by that bold honesty!

Eli, with the help of google translator (of course) I managed to read the whole interview and had a blast doing it. It was so interesting, everything they said, to see how their minds work and even if they're different they basically have the same opinions. I always knew Maxim has strong opinions but I see that Tanya has too.

This is a very small part of the interview, with the help of translator, which I found very cute:

Maxim: Yes, we have an addiction, a pathological thirst for communication with each other. We just can not live one without the other!

Tatiana: This we had right from day one.

Maxim: We don't have arguments. One says something, the other one listens.

Tatiana: We are so different, so we are very interested in each other.

Maxim: We immediately became friends somehow... I eat almost exclusively at Tanya. This delicious soup.

Nessie I couldn't agree more with you. I for one think we should be able to talk about everything we want in here as long as we're decent and don't insult people. I know there were times when I was not interested in something that was discussed and I simply ignored it, but whatever makes the posters happy.

Think I never agreed to anything more.

Yes, that! Just as we all here suspected! :)

I am sure she has. I think she is one iron lady. The emphasis being both on Iron and Lady. I have known several women like that and I admire them all greatly because without trying to usurp the male part in a partnership, they always manage to reach all their goals. The difference between them and others being that whatever they want is for the absolute mutual benefit of the couple and all their motivations are born out of love for the partner.
In particular Tania always makes sure she takes care not only of Max but of her ex-partner as well. She always includes him in the kiss at the K&C, and I remember Max saying that she takes care of them both. I also think that besides the natural desire to not broadcast their personal relationship and thus open the door to intimate and intrusive questions, she also doesn't want their exes to feel bad.

Beautifully stated, Eli60056. I admire Max for his intelligence and remarkable honesty, and I admire Tanya for her strength, her modesty, and yes, her beauty. (and a ton of other flattering adjectives that can be assigned to both of them....)
