Australia's flagbearer will be announced live on television tomorrow night. I doubt it will be one of our skaters, but I do reckon Dani and Greg would be a rockin' choice!

It was known way back in November that Montana's Jason Lamy Chappuis would be the flagbearer for France.

I should add, after dominating Nordic Combined for the past few years, Jason is having a very disappointing 2013/14 season. He is currently in 4th position in the World Cup standings, around 400 points behind the leader Eric Frenzel.

Oh, and his cousin, Ronan Lamy Chappuis, is competing for France in the specialised Ski Jumping.

Wikipedia has a list of announced flag bearers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Winter_Olympics_Parade_of_Nations

Javier and Deividas Stagniunas are the only figure skaters listed yet.

Oops. Sorry, I never saw your post until after I posted my reply about Jason.

I just clicked on the link and saw that Tong Jian was announced as flagbearer for China today.

Great to see that two of my favourite athletes, Simon Ammann of Switzerland and Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein, are also being flagbearers.

Sweden, Anders Södergren 36 years old. A very popular veteran cross-country skier. Won 4 x !0 km relay gold in Vancouver  His third olympics, but he has never been to an opening ceremony before due to competitions the day after.

Germany is currently between Andrea Henkel (Biathlon) and Maria Höfl Riesch (Ski), but I still think that Claudia Pechstein is also in the race. The decision will be tomorrow.

Personally I would give the flag to either Andrea or Claudia ;)

The decision has been made and the German flagbearer will be Maria Höfl-Riesch.

Azerbeijan chosen an official to carry the flag?!! Seriously...

I'm surprised Kim hasn't been picked to do the honours. Maybe she's arriving later.

I bet she is as she is not involved in the team event. She may be training in Austria too.

I thought carrying the flag is a bad luck, but Maria Riesch defied this superstition!
