Here's the first warm-up group - in skate order

3l hand down / 2a / 3z3t / music now sounds like flight of the bumble bee which would make sense with the costume / S ftwrk is flowey / 3s / flycam not much flly – good stretched pos with nice variations / music slows now and we have some MITF that express it well / I just missed something – a jump / slow upright spin with posistion variations / spirals into 2ft 3z with a bit of turnout / some neat O ftwrk that had a problem part way through not quite sure whats / sit chg sit / music now sounds like ode to joy / 2a / combo spin with cam pos that could be much better esp after his flying cam that was quite good / then into a scratch spin and he finishes ina lunge heading towards the judges.

3a fell / music speeds up and crowd is clapping / 3z3t very nice / 3l / he’s got some nice chor with good arm movements going / 3f bit on inside edge on landing but pulled it off / nice fly sit / music really slows & quiet & some nice chor that has good expression & flow / music is building and so are his movements but this section with no jumps is getting a bit long / bad pick on lutz or flip and just did a single / 3s / upright spin with various crouching pos / combo spin is pretty good could use more speed / S ftwrk has lots of onefoot skating & moves very well / he uses his whole body similar to Yags / scratch spin to end / pretty good skate – don’t think he’ll complain too much about this one /

3z3t / music is really heavy & low – almost ominous sounding / 2l / music is faster & brighter and into a 3f / 2a / flycam that could use more fly and stretch / some chor to drums beat possibly his O ftwrk not sure / sit ch sit good on front qwkward on back / some chor to softer music and a spiral not much to it if it’s the mITF / 3s bit low on landing / 3z fell out / 2a turns 2t / very poor butterflys into back sit / this program is starting to drag for me just looked at the clock / 2t bad pick / combo spin with good sit pos 7 nice variation cam is very weak /

3a bit of late hand down / some nice movement pretty much in one place / gaining speed into 4t very nicely done / 3f3t landed toe at dead stop but clean / gorgeous combo spin with all kinds of great pos – travelled a bit though / music slows again with some more chor & great expression / 3z3t / he’s having a great skate / travel 3’s into 3l bit unsteady on landing but kept it clean / nice flycam with god stretch / really heavy beat & crowd is clapping to strt ftwrk that has nice detail but is quite slow / 3f / 3s stepout / O ftwrk is very good but doesn’t nearly reach boards on side away from judges / spin into combo spin that’s great ending in headless / WHAT A SKATE!!!!! Crowd is cheering & clapping /

4s very nice / 3s2t or maybe it was a 3t / 3a fell out turn 2t / spread eagle into 3a / sit ch sit that only had about 3 revs on each foot / loop didn’t get off the ice / death drop into upright spin with position variations / 3z / 3t / music is really slow and he’s doing some chor / 3f / cam spin flyover to back is is nice / music picks up and so does he nice spread eagle seq / strt ftwrk moves well but lots of 2footed skating /

Sets the mood with the music / 3a2t titled in air on axel but pulled it off / 3t instead of the quad / 3f / death drop has nice pos variations in spin bit on slow side / 3f3t is what I saw but everyone else thought it was a 3z3t / music slows and he’s doing some nice chor / 3a / flycam has great stretch and extension / 3l / 3s bit of step out / nice S ftwrk MITF section / music brightens up and we got strt ftwrk goes very well with it & is difficult if a bit slow / nice sit spin / 2a / split jump

He’s moving fast right off top / 3f3t / 3a really tilted but pulled it off 3t 2ft landed at dead stop / 3z fell out think might have done a 2t after turns / flysit is very nice / I missed something might have been an axel / 2l / cam spin has some interesting upright pos at the end / some MITF that are only soso / 3z in same corner as last one landed pitched forward but clean / 3s / flycam with very good fly & pos started out fast but got very slow / dramatic strt ftwrk using who body with an arabian in the middle – very difficult & good / very nice combo spin to end

Johnny Weir USA Start# 8

Dr. Zhivago / very light blue sparkly on top with navy pants - I just heard a comment – really bad outfit
Nice slow movement in place set mood / CW jumper / 3a3t /2s / 3a / flycam is just great very similar to shawn sawyer in it’s positions / 3z3t / death drop / he’s moving very well / 3f / O ftwrk is very nice flows, difficult, with music / He’s very musical / cam spin / 2l – didn’t really get off ice / music is now in the familiar melody / diag ftwrk doesn’t go to the boards at this end and seemed to me to have a jump of more than one rev / butterflys into great combo spin with wonderful pos – bit slow though /

3a fell under rot / 3z fell out / 3f bit wild on free leg turns into another jump but didn’t sede takeoff / ?? spin / nice chor to slow part including an ina / 3l / 3s / death drop with great spin / strt ftwrk is fast & detailed very good / 3t / chor into pose at judges that said “please give me good marks’ / great combo spin fast & good pos / spirals into turns into closing pos

Black with diag closing on tunic style top – still has the bright blond mohawk from 4C’s / Space Battlecruiser Yamato / Marching type music and he’s skating right to it great movement / 4t hand down fell out / 3z pause 3t took his time to get set for the toe good boy / 3l really bad lean on landing but it was clean / 3s / music slows & very nice cam spin and then some chor / 2a / 3f3t just hung on and pulled out the toe / nice high flysit with good spin / spread eagle 3z / into the corner for his footwork start – dramatic music maybe moves section ? it was nice anyway / 2a / now we have the S ftwrk that is fast , detailed & with music / salute to the judges / spread eagle into butterfly into back sit / and final combo spin is very good great speed & perfectly centred /

Here’s group #3 – the connection I have right now is wireless and from where I am it’s pretty weak and iffy so sometimes I can get connected and sometimes not. I’ll definitely be able to connect at the end if I haven’t been able to after each warmup group.

Nice movement to music / 2a / 3z under rot fell / 3t bit wild on free leg but clean / 3s2t / flycam doesn’t have much fly but the spin is pretty good / 3l did it !! / O ftwrk flows well & with music maybe a bit simple turns all same way / 3t step out / layback spin is nice into layback on the other foot very good! / 3s / strt ftwrk is ok – not very difficult but well done / 2a / combo spin to end is well centered with nice layback /

Emanuel Sandhu CAN Start # 12

Nice spread eagle to aaaaaaaaaahhhs / down for the 4t 2t at far end of rink / 3a bad lean fell / 3l / chor into 3z / and imitating opera singer / into death drop type spin / slow & sassy now and he’s playing with the music facing the judges - I love this part / 2s / spread eagles & some nice movement / 3a3t / neat spin with leg variations into figures / and now the music builds into the take c section and he does spirals & spread eagle and the crowd is clapping / 3f3t / 3s / and strt ftwrk is fantastic with crowd clapping – just looked over and it’s the canadian team / his fantastic combo spin to end with headless and turns into illusion spin /

Same program as junior worlds but lengthened of course / 3a3t nice high axel gorgeous / 3a bit low in knee on landing but clean / 3z / he’s moving really well with the music / 3f / music gets bright and the crowd is clapping / very nice flycam with leg variations / some ploaying with the music into O ftwrk which is excellent fast detailed / 3s3t bit wild on landing of toe / spread eagle spirals / 3l turnout / sideways layback / trumpet fanfare into strt ftwrk to circus type music is just great and now the crowd is really clapping and he’s playing to the judges into 2a / combo spin is fast on front with good pos back has good pos but slow / into another spin with sit and then upright leg variation /

Shades of dark pink & purple with black pants / music is Adana – high pitched organ
2a / now we’re into fast folk/gypsy don’t know how to describe it / 3z 2ft fell / 3t / flycam is ok / 3s turnout but stayed on one foot / 3f turnout turns 2t / 3l turnout / sideways layback is very nice then a spin with knee bent sort of like a bad layback knee but looked really neat / 3s2l ?? not 100% sure / sit spin is fast & LOW / 3Z2T / combo spin with some neat pos – trav on front though / strt ftwrk is imaginative and fast /

Brian Joubert FRA Start #15

4t with loads of time to land it / 3f / skating to the music with some good chor & movement / 3a / neat upright spin with unique leg pos / more chor that matches perfectly with music / 3f2t / more chor – this is just great – I’m really enjoying it / 3l / music gets heavy dramatic beat just as he goes into sit spin and now his movement has changed to match the music / 3s bit of a quick free foot down but think it was still clean / moves & spread eagles suit music perfectly / the chor in this program is great / 3z bit of skiddy just held on landing but it was clean / nice spin at end of ice into prep for strt ftwrk and here he goes and the french crowd to my right is cheering & clapping and now the rest of the crowd has joined them / 3t / flysit / and he ends just right in front of the judges /

3z fell / 2a / 2a bit of slip on pick turn 2t / flysit is good / 2-1/2 t turns 2t / some now acting to the slow part with nice spirals & spread eagles including slide spiral – this choreography is looking very much like a Canadian novice skater’s Calvin Lefebrve’s program to the same music / nice 3l / combo spin is good / 3s step out / strt ftwrk ith the miming of walking with cane & tango into very fast sit ch sit with low pos / slower music and he’sm iming again & moving very well with a twizzle that would rival many dancers / 3t pitched forward on landing but clean / 2a 1/2l turns 2f / cam spin is a little slow but good pos & stretch / That was very enjoyable and the crowd is responding really well to it /

Top is red & black with one yellow sleeve & + pattern / Malena by E morricon 3a lean fell / 3f at least I think it was a flip / 3s2t / 3l 2ft / flycam has nice pos bit on slow side / 3z bit wild on free leg 2t / fly back sit is good / strt ftwrk goes well with music but bit on the simple side / cam spin to catch foot is pretty but very slow / ? jump 2ft hand down couldn’t quite see it / 2z / music changes into almost circus feeling for a second or two only then gets dramatic and he does O ftwrk into combo spin including a beillmann /

Thanks a lot for the reports, it seems that it was a very very good show which I'm glad for. Oh but some of my faves didn't do so well, but Lambiel is on the ifnlay group YAY!! I think 5.1 is way too low too Lambiel on pres.

I'm surprised Sandhu is on top with a fall. I think the top men are so close that one mistake could change the standings.

I wonder if Joubert's surprised to be in 2nd since his main focus is Plushenko.

That may be his mistake - not looking at the big picture. He should perhaps check his ego at the door and take a look around.

Great report, Rosaleen..........I love Sandhu, but am also surprised at his high placement with a fall. The rest of his program must have been spectacular..................42

Yeah I think lately he’s been a little cocky that I’m don’t think I’m quite rooting for him anymore. I’m not like this focus on bringing down Plushenko. Sure focus to win but that should be it. I wouldn’t even classify myself as a Plushenko fan…yet but I am rooting for him to take this title.

Sandhu had all the triples including two 3/3's and the 4/2. His fall was on the first 3axel which he repeated successfully later in the program. I don't see what's so bizzare about him being in first ahead of Joubert. He does better in just about every element than Joubert, who had only one 3/3l.

Well, I'm a huge Plushenko fan and I think he'll take his 3rd world championship this week. That said, if Emanuel can just hold it together for TWO MORE SKATES, he has the silver medal.

Sandhu v. Joubert? No contest - Eman wins, hands down. He's fabulous. Better elements all the way around.

Too bad Weir's way back there in 7th. He actually had a decent skate (better than Eastern Sectionals where he also doubled the loop & also Neb Trophy). Too bad about his group. Hopefully he'll keep up this consistent skating though for the next 2 rounds, I'm sure he'll be able to move up.
