LOL, after 2006 my friend and I (the one I used to watch all the skating with) would kid with each other: "Don't make me go all Barbara Fusar-Poli on you!" And then GLARE...
I dunno, people said Chan was a lock for gold coming into these games... don't declare the winners just yet.
Who are those people. I certainly never thought that and many others on this forum didnt. Of the 4 favorites coming in Chan was by far the least secure, heck he wasnt even the favorite anymore by the time the mens short program and even less after it finished.
how did short dance turned into a Patrick Chan discussion :scratch:
I didn't realize there were 4 favorites for men's Olympic gold;
Even if judging in other events has been good and better than usual, it doesnt mean the dance will be. Dance for decades has bee the problem event of the sport. North Americans say it is better now only since NA teams are always coming 1-2, so the bias of NA skating experts and past champions just automaticaly says it is better, but whether it is or not in reality is hard to say. There has been alot of people wondering about the scores of D&W of late, especialy when they won the GPF with their worst FD of the year including shaky twizzles over a perfect V&M who had by far their best outing of the year. There is real question over the scores of Bobrova & Soloviev this year, and some who think Pechalat & Bourzat and Weaver & Poje have been undermarked at times this year. I think the judging is most likely to be suspect of all the events at these Games in ice dancing, just like usual in an Olympic Games.
I love going to the event page on sochi2014.com - especially when waiting for results... so clean and easy...
I like it too. I like having "planned elements" in hand. There is one slight flaw, though, as I found out with the scores for Jason Brown. The display of elements has a limit and if there are too many, the Sochi page can't hold them all. I don't think it will be a problem in dance as there aren't as many elements, but it's something to be aware of.I love the Sochie2014 results pages. They're awesome. I love the speed events (luge, skeleton, speed skating). You can "watch" as the competitors go!
I always have to roll my eyes when D/W have one set of out of sync twizzles and V/M fans go on and on about how it's a huge error whereas when Tessa nearly wipes out on hers to the extent that it affects the levels and then they're all like "oh that was just a small break."
