Unlike fanatics like you - I would have no problem with any one skater winning as I am a firm believer in the principal of may the skater with the best performance win.

I can however fully understand why Kim fanatics like you would be worried by Julia L's recent performances and why your talking them down.

It's people like you - bigoted presumptious fanatics with agenda's that are really spoiling this board. Makes me wonder why I waste my time.

BTW definitely the "jumping shrimp" is waaaaay over scored FC is right on the money

FC said she deserved to win; constructive criticism does not make someone a "hater". FC has earned the right to respectfully express his opinion.

If FC was a commentator for NBC I would agree with you; when he's a coach of another competitor it's different story, it comes across as a little classless to give commentary on another skater the week before a competition.

People are quickly to say so and so are jealous of her success. I would tell you now that I ain't jealous! Did you not hear from her mouth that her parents don't work anymore, and they are enjoying her success. Who would be jealous of that? This is the equivalent of Hollywood child star syndrome (Dina Lohan type) but without the Hollywood money.

Sad thing is, she has a long long life ahead of her, and with parents like that, it will be very long.

To sum up the situation: she's a 15yo girl who's fearless, who's consistent, who's skating for the right country at the right time in her life. That's all. If she's skating for China or something, her score would plummet by 20 points at least. The extra points on PCS, GOE are not based on her innate talent. Too bad other skaters are screwed over to make room for this girl.

I simply prefer other ladies to Julia. She is very young and already has a lot of fans. There is plenty of room for her and all of us are fans that favor some skaters over others - I would not characterize protesting inflated calls jealousy.

Everyone's getting jealous of Julia and it's sad! Embracing amazing new talent is sometimes hard because they replace other talents.

I don't think anyone's denying that she's an amazing talent, or that she would've won the game. Maybe not as much as the scores suggest and not at the expense of other amazing skaters who have proven themselves, and not with that much gap with Gracie. I honestly think if everyone was inflated at the same level or if she wasn't so obviously held up, I think most of us would be so glad that one of the new talents has finally stepped up to the plate to become the anointed one when all the veterans are ready to leave the stage, but now...

All this "Julia clearly deserves every point she's got but you don't see it because you're nothing but jealous fans" outcry honestly baffles me. I mean, seriously, you guys think she wasn't overscored at all? That she deserved everything she got even when her scores are compared to everyone else's?

If your answer is yes, then it doesn't matter that some of us don't agree, because we're clearly in the wrong and we clearly need our heads examined, right? Maybe Frank is wrong too, but like Mathman says, judges don't care what he thinks or what some of us think. And if you're right and Julia is that amazing, I'm sure she'll prove us wrong in the upcoming years anyway. Time will tell.

Meanwhile, I'm going to voice my opinions, and no disrespect to Julia and her talents is meant.

Why is time will tell? Is her time not now? Why?

Pcs doesn't come with a concrete "this equals that" how could it? Judges are being presented different things by every skater? How is 10 wrong in interpretation? What is a 10? What would be a 10 by Julia doing her program? Do you have an idea? Or is totally impossible for Julia to get one 10 at euros for interpretation?

If a person deserves to win they need the scores to win! Those scores need to be high!

You know, even if people do think that, this "you're just jealous" and "you're just bitter" stuff just comes off as defensive and childish. If you think Julia's being scored entirely fairly, explain why, just as people are pointing out exactly what parts of her scores they believe should be lower and why. (Yeah, some people are actually making reasoned arguments...good for you.) It makes no sense to just dismiss such an explanation by declaring what some stranger's feelings are. Can we leave the "omg ur just jealus" stuff in junior high? You hardly have to be "jealous" to get annoyed at what you perceive is an unfair score or worse, an unfair scoring pattern.

I don't agree anything is inflated. I don't get the idea of inflated.

Great. Then I respectfully disagree, for the many reasons that have been stated in a number of different threads all over the forum in the last few days (and I'm sure you didn't miss them), and by a lot of other posters who are more articulate and knowledgeable than I am, so I won't regurgitate them all over again. Isabel_O'Reilly has outlined the technical and PCS scores and explained step by step why she thinks it's not inflated, and I respect her attempts, but I don't think that explains why others weren't given the same generous considerations accordingly. Hence inflated.

I'm not sure what this means. You're saying that Julia deserves to win, so her scores need to be high? What?

Thank you. And it hardly endears us to change our mind about Julia's scores, does it?

She had a 10 at Euros and that's what FC was referring to.

I'm not a usual commenter here but I just can't help this time.

OMG seriously? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!? This is insane. I've seen her Euros and did not feel anything special about her performance. Not that it matters because I'm not a judge but still. The only thing that captured my attention was the spins. It's outrageous. *table flip

IMO, even Yuna's Lark Ascending was more touching than Yulia's Schindler's List program. I think the music as well as its history carried her. Not the other way around. I challenge anyone to mute the music and then just watch her skate. Sorry I just have to let this out. XD

I read all of Isabel and I don't get it! There is no "this equals that number" and I have not read that Julia didn't deserve 9 or 10 because PCS says whatever and how Julia didn't reach that. That's why there are judges.

Yes if a person deserves to win an event they need the most points to win. You can't give Julia lower scores that would cause her to lose! If a judge feels she was getting all the PCS categories to their max you need to reflect that in her score. You can't be a judge and be like "Wow JUlia was great! But she's 15 and not mao or yuna or Carolina and only they deserve 8 or 9 so I can't give that!" What? How does scoring work if its like that?

Lets not forget that Mao and Gracie went underboard with their performances to be fair. Gracie was great but I expect better from her in the individual(less survival mode). Same for Mao but sad to say I expect the same(let's hope I'm wrong). What if Gracie went clean and got a 134/135 and Julia was fairly given a 138(I guess a lot will disagree she will ever EARN that but just assume). Would we even be discussing this. Most everyone says Julia won right? Yuna wasn't there to counter the inflation either. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Yuna in complete control going first in the SP.

Yuna
Julia
Mao or Gracie

Poor Caro :(

After all this ranting on here about Julia's scores I am now really hoping she wins Gold. That would really throw some of you into a hysterical tizzy. All this talk of because it is in Russia she will have inflated scores. Hello, there is only One Russian judge so others must be scoring her high too. There is some advantage to skating in one's home country but there also is added pressure to win too.

I am not denying her PCS is about 4 points too high for some people to take (personally I think her style of skating deserves the highest PCS but anyway since everyone, other than the judges, who by the way are from countries like CAN, JPN, GER, USA etc disagree) I'm willing to go with a lower #, but anyway that's besides the point. She would have won even if you decrease her PCS by over 7 points. She would have won.

Besides, it's not me, you, or Frank Carroll or anyone else for that matter who get to decide the PCS that a skater receives on the night in question. Do you really think these judges from countries who would have every reason to try to mark her down are really just deciding to give her these extra points? Only one judge is even from Russia. No one has been able to satisfactorily explain this to me: why they think the judges aren't allowed to judge what they see. That's the point.

I would love to be so successful that my parents could retire. That is assuming her parents won't go back to work when this is over. I say good for them! It's got to be hard to maintain a job and give a girl of this caliber the time needed to train and travel. All the girls at my rink who are home schooled have a stay at home parent that brings them to skate for often 4-5 hrs a day 4-5 days a week. We do off ice too so that could be a 6 hr day. I would imagine Julia(thinking about converting to Yulia:think: )has even longer days, I've seen reports of 8-10 hr days with off ice factored in! The nerve of some people. Attacking family members:disapp:

Only two skaters have seen outlier increase in PCS, both are the Russian girls skating in Russia for the Olympics. Nobody else. The scores are not justified. She receives the same PCS as Mao and Kostner now. A person would have to truly know nothing about skating to believe those scores are accurate compared to Mao and Kostner, among others.

The judges should be investigated for bribery.

I may as well be wrong but I think there might have been several factors at work here. The primary one is that the scores were for team medals. Second, it is the first time ever that formula was experimented. Third, the judges were told Putin was coming.

Just as an individual skaters might value individual medals more, the judges might have been loose with their scoring when there emerged a clear winner in this first ever team game. I know this is still an ISU event and all that but if what I read here is correct there were 2 tech specialists who were Russian, along with many Eastern European judges - Imagine the pressure on them when they were told Mr. President is on his way!

Julia is consistent and exciting to audience. But guess what? So was Rachel "Reliable" Flatt in Vancouver. We shall see what happens in ladies SP. Again, if what I read is correct there will be no Russian (nor American) judges in ladies events.
