If Savchenko & Szolkowy and Virtue & Moir skip Worlds as expected the battles for the bronze in both pairs and ice dancing should be exciting.

For the pairs assuming the two Russians go 1-2 you would have Duhamel & Radford, Moore-Towers & Moscovitch, Berton & Hotarek, Peng & Zhang, Barazova & Larionov, Sui & Han all going for that bronze with B&L trying to complete a Russian sweep.

Then in the dance if D&W win and I&K are 2nd as expected it should be a great 3 way battle between Weaver & Poje, Bobrova & Soloviev, and Capellini & Lanotte, with W&P and C&L both looking for their first World medal.

Also, I'm hoping for a bit of a lighting in a bottle where Yuko & Sasha get on the podium in the pairs. That being said, I think any of the teams you mentioned would make worthy medalists. Should be exciting!

Megan Duhamel said in an interview on CBC she thinks she can win Worlds this year and they can beat V&T. It seems they are very optimistic to put it mildly. Will be interesting to see how they fare, they seem very determined.

If she feels they can beat V/T, why didn't they beat them at the Olympics? Just curious... Or is she hoping that V/T will spend the month between Olympics and Worlds celebrating and therefore won't be prepared for worlds? (It may be possible. The gold medal affected YuNa in 2010 and she struggled to get motivation to prepare herself for worlds.)

They are not exactly aiming for the bronze I guess, but S/S are going to Worlds. :p

Maybe I'm being ignorant here, but what makes Duhamel/Radford think they can beat S/S, much less V/T? Their personal best is even lower than Sui/Han's(who they should honestly look out for, btw).

I don't think it's just a battle for bronze in these two disciplines. Assuming V/T win pairs and D/W win dance, then the other two spots are up for grabs. S/S could have another nightmare and take bronze, and S/K aren't a lock for silver, although they will have momentum. In dance, assuming V/M aren't going (and the French certainly aren't), then wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that 2nd and 3rd could go to any combination of C/L, W/P, B/S, I/K? Looking forward to the competition!

It depends on who the judges will be and who is the technical specialist and controller. I don't believe in figure skating results any more. I will just have my own opinions in the future who should get gold silver and bronze. The ISU and speedy's IJS is a joke and an embarrassment to the sport. Figure skating has suffered and it is evident that fans are discussed. It is not surprising that World's will have very little TV coverage.

can't stand duhamel… girl needs a slice of humble pie. ugh

Megan Duhamel does come on a little strong sometimes.

I think she tries to project confidence and is quite ambitious. The thing is though, Megan & Eric haven't been as consistent or as clean this season as they wanted to be. If you say you want to be #1, you need to back it up. I know they were aiming high this season, but ironically they ended up being outskated by their Canadian colleagues Moore-Towers & Moscovitch at the Olympics and finishing as the #2 pair. So maybe D&R have wanted to win too badly this year and M-T&M are doing something right by the approach they've adopted lately.

Pechalat/Bourzat have changed their mind and they will be at Worlds. And I/K definitely aren't a lock for silver. They've never been consistent so everything could happen.

Just like any figure skating competition that has ever taken place. :p

I am so happy that Nathalie & Fabian will be at Worlds

Is it sure that V&M will not go? And I wonder whether I&K will go, given they just won the bronze.

I want to be happy for Pechalat/Bourzat but I want to see Papadakis/Cizeron too

yes, it will be very exciting!! If V/m don't go, P/B, I/K, B/S, W/P, C/L all have a shot I think... And that's five couples for two spots  (I don't think I/K will have a great adavtange over P/B and B/S outside Russia: remember NHK this year...)

Vitue/Moir said that they want to focus on the Art on Ice tour, IIRC, and it sounded like they are done. But who knows, we won't know for sure until the entry lists are out.

That's what I thought, but some fans reported they had such a great time at their 2nd Olympics that they are reconsidering. I don't know whether the fans have inside info or whether it is a case of wishful thinking.

There are pros & cons to Virtue & Moir going to Worlds.

The pros for Canada would be that we would get 3 spots to next year's Worlds, which would help the other Canadian teams.

The cons are that unless Davis & White make mistakes, V&M are likely to finish 2nd again based on the way the scoring has gone for the past 2 years.

Moore-Towers and Moscovitch always try to have fun and be happy, which I appreciate about them. Not that I don't appreciate Meagan and Eric's serious, ultra-ambitious approach, but sometimes the former works better.

Yeah, sometimes M-T&M have a bit more personality and chemistry on the ice than D&R. D&R are usually strong technically when they are on, but they can sometimes be a little robotic and stiff, or perhaps come across as less warm.

Not sure if D&R will continue after this season, but I think they will give it one more go at Worlds next month. They must have been a bit disappointed to finish below M-T&M since they are last year's World's bronze medalists.

I would love to see P&B get another bronze. But I think it's only possible if Voir are definitely skipping Worlds.

I'm not sure I want to see P&B again after their less than gracious comments after the Dance event in Sochi.
