Someone should skate to music from "The King's Speech" - lovely soundtrack!

I wouldn't mind someone skating to some of the instrumental music from "Brave." One of the juvenile (or intermediate pairs) @ US Nationals did. I'm a sucker for Celtic music!

I LOVED that movie! And yes, a great soundtrack!

Rush is also magnificent (Hans Zimmer wins again!). I've been dying to see a guy do "Top Gun". (Max?) Apollo 13 is also a mega soundtrack and could actually cut very well into a "story" style program. And in spite of the fact that "Let It Go" is probably going to be the most overused song of the next season, Frozen is actually chock-full of gorgeous music.

Several people, including me, put a bunch of "should skate to this" programs on the "music I'm sick of" thread. When I get a chance, I'll mention some of them here. Always a fun topic to contemplate. The choreographers should consult us! We get some pretty good ideas.

Orchestra versions of any Zelda Game Soundtrack would make me so happy. I would love a girl skate to Skyward Sword as Zelda. Didn't Kevin Reynolds skate to some game soundtrack? (I mean aside from Mario Soundtracks, they are cute but there are really great pieces of music to be found in video game music)

Lord of the Rings would also be great. But also newer stuff like the Game of Thrones OST or the theme of Pacific Rim by Ramin Djawadi. A powerful skater could make this an awesome program. With kicks and the like.

Same here I really like listening to songs in a language that I don't speak. If you don't understand it then the words themselves don't really matter and you can listen to the singing in a whole different way, as part of the music itself.
Regarding the skaters: I believe that most people have a deeper connection to lyrics in their native language. And it never hurts any performance to feel connected to the music.

I'm sure they decided to try this music after Kostner's short program a few years ago.

You must be a mind reader. That is my favorite symphony (The Leningrad Symphony)!!! Too bad it is rarely performed.
I would be ecstatic if someone skated to the march (Allegretto part) from the seventh symphony -- this would be epic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp4444gU8D4
It has a similar structure of building up to the final peak as Ravel's bolero or Nyman's Memorial.
Really, if someone wants lots of darkness and drama, Shostakovich is the composer to use. His music is quirky, modern, intense, out of the box, and has a good rhythm for dancing.
Another one of my favorites is his Hamlet suite. It can't get any darker than this piece.

Ok, I am going to stop my Shostakovich rant as it is the wrong thread for that.

Wow I was pretty sure I'd not get any replies! It's my favourite symphony, too.

It's not a piece one would immediately associate with FS. But yes, if you can do a free dance to Carmina Burana then definitely this symphony is a treasure trove for a couple/skater who aren't afraid to explore the dark side.

I would absolutely die if a skater used music from Hayao Miyazaki films, composed by Joe Hisaishi. The score from the movie The Wind Rises is really hard to find on YouTube, but has three running themes along with other pieces of music ("Journey", "Caproni", and "Naoko") that are absolutely gorgeous. Here's one of the "Naoko" pieces:

Also, this song from Spirited Away could be a gorgeous program

I would love love love to see an ice dance couple skate to the theme from The Princess Bride. And I will continue to push for Hotel California and Jimi Hendrix until some poor skater feels sorry for me and uses either in a competitive program. We all have dreams.
