    Best Costume
    - Ladies: Lipnitskaya (LP)
    - Men: Hanyu (SP)
    - Pairs: That's a hard one. I'll go with Wende/Wende for the free, especially since it was a huge improvement on their 2010 costume.
    - Ice Dance: Cappellini/Lanotte (SD)

    Best Short Program
    - Ladies: Wagner, but Lip is close
    - Men: Hanyu
    - Pairs: Volosozhar/Trankov, I suppose
    - Ice Dance: Ilinykh/Katsalapov

    Best Free Skate
    - Ladies: Suzuki
    - Men: Brown
    - Pairs: Wende/Wende (objectively, no, but I LOVE it, and them)
    - Ice Dance: Pechalat/Bourzat

Best Coach: Igor Shpilband, I suppose

Best Choreographer: Rohene Ward, for Jason's programs

    Best Skater
    - Ladies: Best overall is probably Lipnitskaya, but my favourite is Wagner
    - Men: Hanyu, I suppose, but my favourite is Brown
    - Pairs: V/T but my favourites are W/W
    - Ice Dance: D/W but my favourites are P/B

    Best Music: I/K's short dance

Best jump: Any/every triple landed by Elene Gedevanishivili (I think they deserve +5 GOEs) *Honorable mention: Yuzuru's one-foot turn 3A
Godmother: TAT (Her death stare --------> judges = +3 GOE, 9.00+ PCS)

Best SP: Yuna's Send in the Clowns
    Best FS: Mao's Rachmaninoff
    Best costume: Yulia's FS
Best skating skills in singles: Patrick (He also won "Best Jennifer Lopez" award, I believe)

P.S. Ugh. Mao's costumes again..? Am I completely off/an outlier or do people really like her costumes? I thought people were sarcastic at first but I am no longer certain about that.

Fun thread, but I am a little confused if we should be looking at the performance or actual choreography for the programs. Also, is the 'best skater' title similar to a MVP award for the season or limited to one outstanding performance (which is more in line with the oscars)? Anyways, I'll go with my own interpretation of the nominations. For best programs, I am basing my nominations on the choreography of the programs and the best skater title will be based on the single most outstanding performance of the season from each discipline.

I know right! She totally owned her sassiness and was a breath of fresh air. I would also add Edmunds and Kostner to the list of nominees. I love how Kostner actually SMILES before going into her jumps instead of putting on a furrowed focused serious look.

It's sad to me reading anyone putting V/T's free skate as the best of the year. Ugh. That's all sort of wrong unless you're just looking at the elements. That middle spot where nothing happens is so awful. Blech. I can't believe they forced us to watch that. They're so much better than that.

    I think P/T, S/K, S/S, D/R, M-T/M all had better FSs.

(I'd also say that V/T's SP is obviously the best so that's why their ridiculously awful FS is so annoying to me.)

    /end rant

I usually like Kostner, and still place her technique and presentation above the others, however I do not like her Ave Maria SP. I think she can do even better than that. Lori Nichol's material is boring, boring, boring. Fortunately, Carolina is talented enough to overcome this with her skills and interpretation.

Welcome, AmazingMao. I love your description of Mao's LP at Sochi: "Within 4 mins of her performance, I have seen her life story as a skater." I got gooseflesh all over again about that program as I read your words.

I too love Mao's costumes this year, especially the SP costume. The color is so gorgeous, and I love the layered skirts. The LP one is lovely too, except that for my taste there's a bit too much use of illusion fabric. From a distance, it makes the bodice look too brief, not that one pays attention to such a thing once she starts skating!

I love both programs by both of the top ice dance teams, V/M and D/W. I understand some people's reservations about parts of V/M's long program, but I have such a soft spot for that Glazunov music (and for the skaters) that I'm not affected by it that way.

    Jason's Celtic long program--magnifique!
