Many reports say that there was a big crowd at the men's practice today. Most of them were there to see their OGMist Yuzuru Hanyu. When he appeared at the rink, there rose a huge, enthusiastic applause from the crowd. Every single move of his was the center of their attention. Each time he jumped, screams and claps came up. Even when he only took off his jacket, there were screams.
"I don't know what to say." Yuzuru looked embarrassed, but considered the fever in a positive way. "It was a good experince to check how much I can concentrate on myself before a lot of fans." (sorry for the rough translation)

LOL! That's very cute. Glad to hear that Yuzuru seems to be handling the pressure and excitement well. Thanks for the translation, Paola!

Thanks for the report and the news article links Paola D. Yuzuru "fever" indeed . Good that he appears to be taking it all in stride.

One of the reports states that if Yuzuru wins Worlds, he will be the first man since Yagudin 12 years ago to capture the GPF, Olympic, and World figure skating titles all in one season. He will also be the youngest to do so.

I wish him and all other competitors to skate their best and make the 2014 Worlds a memorable one.

    Mao practice on 25th
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKvsxHR5AGI

The 3A rate is 3 out of 3 today including SP runthrough.
A little more rotation is desirable.

Thanks for the updates NMURA. Is it true that Mao tried 3Lo-3Lo in practice?

Thanks for the video link! It's not unusual that she lands her 3A's OK in practice though, is it?

I just hope she can keep a cool head, and land them in competition! And fully rotated!

Apparently during Yulia's run thru at practice today as she sat at center ice waiting for Schindler's List the organizers accidentally played You Don't Give up On Love. I can see it now..her somber and haunting look she usually throws over her shoulder was quickly replaced by one of her nastier "sandy beach" looks she usually reserves for reporters asking mundane questions. My source also said immediately after a quick look of confusion she just went ahead and and did her SP perfectly. For the record I'm citing this as evidence when I start my own 'judging conspiracy': pt 2(the setting sun)!!!

The same source also said Mao, their favorite skater, popped two or three 3A but looked good otherwise and landed at least 3 solid 3A. He/she thought Mao looked quite strong and very confident yet gave the impression that if Mao struggles a bit in practice it's usually is a good sign. So it seems all is well. Good luck to Mao and her fans!

Worlds are upon us and I for one am beyond pumped!! Best of luck to all the skaters with extra special luck to one on particular!

I can guess what "sandy beach" must mean... because I know what kind of look Julia gives at those times...

But why "sandy beach"? Where does that phrase come from? I've never heard it before O_o

Well I can't come out and call her a bee-eye-tea-sea-H. I think the mods frown upon profanity.

Just something I made up. I don't think I've heard it anywhere else. I tend to do that. |
