The lift is somewhat similar but it is not actually identical. It is clear in the clip she is doing something different. Specifically, she is standing on one leg with her other leg out to the side in a sort of half arabesque. When she did the lift with Nikita both skates stayed on him http://en.ria.ru/images/18763/35/187633572.jpg. In the new lift she is facing to the side. She and Nikita both faced forward. In point of fact, I think this lift is actually more difficult than the one she was doing with Nikita.

ETA oh I actually think there are possibly 2 lifts shown... the other may be identical. But there's also a new one!

We saw S/K doing an old V/M lift that S/Z had used a variant of in their gala program - like I said before, you probably won't see either team coming up with really exciting new lifts this season because they've got so much else to work on already.
Ruslan's extension of his free leg in the new lift is fab though. And I'm interested to see if they do the old I/K lift on it's own instead of going into a rotational lift - the dismount from that position would be crazy difficult.
sky_fly I wouldn't translate what you quoted as "crazy temper", but more "fiery temperament" - the meaning is that she skates and trains with a lot of passion. It's nothing about a bad attitude.

Yes but you know that sky_fly wants it to mean this thing.

Ruslan's modesty and general manner is refreshing. I really hope these two develop into something extra-ordinary, they have it in them if given the chance. Excited

Yulia forver! I'm on team dumped Ice Dance.
Yep. That's what I saw as well, two lifts. One identical of the old lift with Nikita and the other one you described.

Kustarova / Alexeeva / Riabinina’s group trains in Liepae for the third year, coaches are satisfied with the place, because it is good place for work. They will spend here one month only (usually they spend two months here and skate at gala, but not this time). Twelve couples train here now. Ruslan says that they work on making a team with Lena, they work in gym, with ballroom dancers, a Spanish specialist came to them (Navarro). The reporter says that they usually spent eight hours in working process a day (the reported told eight hours on the ice, but I prefer to think that it is overall time with off ice preparation also). Ruslan says that they don’t have much free time, only one free day when they walk on the beach. Test skate will be in August, there will be decided what competitions the couple will compete at.

No, the link I posted shown exactly the same lift - the one where she stands with her blades on his chest or stomach or God knows where exactly the blades are, he is holding her and she is standing up facing completely away from him (and someone is skating there to catch her if it went wrong).

Here are links on YouTube (not only Lena and Ruslan, but also Anna & Sergei and some other dancers):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2-VrcBx19Y or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNbqMybxax0
In the second video there are seen some steps by Anna & Sergei in 0:18 – those are compulsory steps for samba for juniors next year‘s SD. It should be steps which are modified for juniors from senior Silver Samba steps – for example Krylova & Ovsiannikov Silver Samba http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9x3Xf76NfI – the same steps like in Sergei & Anna’s case start in 0:40.
On 2:31 in the second video Anna and Sergei practise lift with Anna upside down (like Meryl & Charlie lift), Sergei in crouching position.
There are two different lifts made by Lena and Ruslan. In the second video just at the end in 2:44 you can see the Swan lift with entry to the lift, the middle part of the lift is shown in the first video since 1:35. This is an exact copy of the lift from Swan Lake. It doesn’t have ending yet, they probably don’t know whether to continue with rotational lift to make a combo lift or how to end it. Entry of the Swan lift with rotation around the neck looks more easily done than with Nikita, the final position with Lena forward is not sure yet, they slowly try to get Lena into that position.
The second lift starts with horizontal not full rotation made by Lena, then she puts her skate on Ruslan’s thigh, Ruslan changes holding position and Lena makes an arm movement – this really looks like SD lift. This is a new lift.
Overall there is still a lot of work to make lifts one of the highlights, but overall it looks very well. I can see that Lena tries to work in lifts, not only waits, she needs more extension and more tension into whole body, but the entry of the Swan lift and horizontal rotation in the second lift look more easy and light than when she did the same moves with Nikita last year. Ruslan keeps his upper body well, he also balances both two lifts well looking at the fact how short time they train it (like in Vika & Nikita’s case they started to learn lifts off the ice first so on ice lifts are performed shorter time then the couple skates together). And like we already wrote few times here, Ruslan can balance lifts better than Nikita. Already now he is able to keep the lift on one foot without that shaky moves of skate which very so common for Nikita while skating with Lena (Nikita also lifted Victoria on both feet during all three lifts in the gala).
I would prefer to see more videos, because lift don’t show the synchro, speed or skating skills of the couple. Step sequences and twizzles please!

I am curious. In TAT interview, she said she had not seen I/Z yet and only praised "I" as great dancer. Is TAT not much interested in I/Z? thinking that they are not special or are the ones casted out? If she wants, she can visit their training easily, right? S/K skated a show program recently. What's the SD that TT talked about?

Is there a particular reason why you ignored the ETA last line of my post? It was ETA literally seconds after I posted, so it's not like you didn't see it all these hours later. In the link posted (I guess by you, I didn't go back now to check), they are rehearsing 2 lifts if you watch the whole clip of the training session. One is identical, yes. The other isn't. There was only one link I saw posted, so I was looking at the right link- the only one.

Translation of part of Tarasova’s article from 17th of June is here…
Originally Posted by bsfan

She says that Nikita and Vika worked a lot and the result is seen, but she avoides some straight praises to them. She describes Nikita like “an amazing skater with great promise and desire to become a good partner“…Tarasova says that for her the best partner is the one who leads his partner (but sooner she refused to take Nikita like the best dancer or like great dancer – she talkes about Nikita’s skating not dancing - she appreciates his qualities like a skater – technician, but not one word about being good dancer and good presenter of his lady). So Tarasova visibly don’t agree with Zueva’s opinion about Nikita being the best dancer on the world. Despite the fact that Tarasova likes Zueva so much like she told, she pronounce a wish to see a real Russian soul in B&S’s skating (while Zueva describes S&K like skaters with Russian soul). There is Tarasova’s note about Flamenco SD for Vika & Nikita, she saw the dance at practise before The Gala at the end of May, but once again Tarasova told that the DANCE is very good, she didn’t tell that the couple skates that dance very good. Of course those are just nuances, but if anybody is expert on such little differences and speaking between the words than it is Tarasova.
To I&Z, somebody at Russian Board noticed that Tarasova already saw their Paso Doble (probably Paso Doble steps) and liked it. Maybe it was not true. Or maybe the reporter asked about the dances, and Tarasova answered in meaning that she didn’t see their dances – new programs yet (the couple created FD with Averbukh just before the vacations as I remember, and SD was made at training camp in Liepae just few days ago).
Tarasova helped I&K more seasons, so she knows Lena very well. Tatiana’s notice about Lena: “If her character allows her to be patient with new hard workload“ only supports the idea that Lena didn’t show her best at practises in past years.
Tarasova’s dislike to Sinitsina & Zhiganshin lasts for long, I would say that it was already there in their junior years. Mainly in 2011/12 when Sinitsina & Zhiganshin beat Stepanova & Bukin at every competition where the couples met. Tarasova always supported Ivan Bukin so much, she even spoke about Ivan at Olympics while she criticised Vika & Ruslan, she wanted to send Bukin at post Olympics Worlds because like she somewhere noted there will be missing some couples, so it will be better/easier to make a name than at Olympics or Europeans.

The poster who said TAT saw I&Z's paso doble is usually full of sh!t. She has been saying the reason why Zhulin's group isn't going to training camps is because he got married even though he's been married to Mikhailova for a while.
