there are 2 important success tools in Ice Dance, looks and technique
the 1st one, I can say they look mismatched though I admit Ruslans looks a bit mature here, maybe trying to grow some beard ?

but we cannot say about their techniques
as we haven't seen a video of them skating together, so lets wait and see

imo, the 1st criteria, Sinitsina / Katsalapov won

Hey Don't you know technique is not important for S/K. Judges just going to look at facebook pictures of Sinitsina/Katsalapov and gave them all +3s and 10s:laugh:

Probably not, because even if judges intended to add marks for how the couple looks, they still wouldn't be able to overlook when Nikita decides to miss half of the twizzle's element.

…So I started skating with Larisa Fedorinova. She was a very talented girl. We were kind of `classical' pair and also set kind of a record - became 5th in the nationals after just half a year of skating together. We had a lovely programme `Norma' to Bellini, it was quite decent. But then Larisa started gaining weight and it was impossible to prevent. Either it was the way she was built, perhaps she lacked self control....
…However, the first year we were on fire, on the 2nd there was no progress and we were done after the 3rd. Larisa became too heavy for me to lift, I started having problems with my knees... Larisa and I understood in August 1989 we have no future. We went to the training camps, choreographed an interesting dance to `Sirtaki'. But we felt that was it. Larisa didn't really want to skate anymore. In September 1989 Dubova found Oksana. Back then switching coaches was pretty much like starting a nuclear war. They would even go as far as a fake marriage to justify the switch….
…So everything was going just great. Except for the relationship between Oksana and Dubova. Besides, Oksana had an affair with Zhulin, and Maya and Sasha started having problems. That summer Dubova kicked Oksana out from the group. I was given Tatiana Navka to skate with and told `in a couple of years you'll become the World champions, but now it's Maya/Sasha's time'….
…After all I spent 10 years with Dubova and was loyal. What could I do?
So my partner was kicked and I stayed. Oksana would call me and say `Zhenya, come to your senses, we were mistreated, let's go away and skate together'. Besides, many specialists, the foreign as well couldn't understand why such a promising pair was no longer existing. I started hesitating. Remember me mentioning leaving a coach resembling starting a nuclear war? So I went on skating with Navka, choreographing programmes with her. And after a month or two I understood it just didn't work. Tanya was too young, had no experience. I would drop to the 10th place in the worlds after being 3rd with her. I was inspiring to be the 1st my whole life and such a setback... So I decided to take a step back and save the situation. Dubova decided to move to Lake Placid to the USA. Just before the flight Oksana called me and said: It's the last time I call. Decide. I knew she was trying our with Peter Tchernyshev seeing I could not make up my mind. It was the final signal for me. I decided to go after Oksana and join Linichuk's group. I called Natalia Vladimirovna Linitchuk to a talk, we thought of all the things... So Dubova left to the USA and I stayed.

Somebody also mentioned that in a moment when Platov paired with Grishuk again, she was without a partner that time. (There were talks that Grishuk and Tchernyshev were not able to stand each other.)

Come on sky_fly20....Lena was used to dress this clothes in past years as well and frankly I prefer it more than black T-shirt which looked like Nikita's.

Shhh be happy please :laugh: Sky_fly is biggest hurdle of Elena and Ruslan could face for now and they actually get away with clothing criticism,:laugh:Their future looks much bright now.:laugh:

He catched one of the prettiest girls, and for many the most pretty ice dancer in Russia...but having the looks on the first place - Victoria would be already Senior Russian National Champion, no?

Ruslan was never trying to become the most pretty Ice Dance Lady or Men, as I know...but he always tried to push himself into the group of the best male ice dancer - in meaning of dancing qualities...and this year he was really one of the best world ice dancers (even better than Nikita this season).

As to your funny note about technique compatibility...

...one of the most important thing in technique are edges - deep edges. I took screenshots of skates of all four - Victoria, Lena, Ruslan and Nikita...look at the picture and tell me that you can be sure, whose skates it is. I always took a moments with element where deep edges are necessary of course and I waited for a moments when a couple will have the deepest edges during the whole element. You can easily notice that all those four skaters have the same depth of edges. Watching their programs we know that both couples are fast, maybe S&Z were even faster this year (but it could be thanks to choreography as well, S&Z were not resting during a program). So do you really expect some compatibility problems? Where?

True but still you can notice same details…
1) Lena looks happy and she is having good time, she feels comfortable with both Ruslan and Kustarova.
2) Ruslan is serious and focused on his job, he really wants to train and achieve big results.
3) Ruslan is used to skate in deeper knees – it is noticeable on two pictures which looks to be more than just an exception – a picture with cross-overs and on a picture where they cross legs in Quickstep hold – sure this will be one of things to work on – having the same depth of knees.
4) a couple is missing synchronisation – the same picture with crossed legs in close hold – position of both legs from both Lena and Ruslan - that is understandable, they need to spend longer time training together.
5) Sorry, Sky_fly20 – at all those photos one of them really looks older…but it is not Lena…

Elena appears to be very happy trying out skating with Ruslan, she isn't pining over Nikita or Ivan, let it go.
[insert Gracie's Let It Go ex windmill arms]

And an unofficial source isn't a source. Perhaps they are breaking up, but I wouldn't just trust anyone on the forums immediately. Let it play out.

but she needs a strong partner who can do big lift tricks
and a partner who will not be overshadowed and be equal to her on the ice.

Ruslan is not that skater unfortunately
only Nikita or Ivan with their sturdier built is suited for Elena

LOL...give it a rest. You recall the mess he made with lifts with the thin Stepanova last year right? If Lena left him as a child, no way after what she went through with Nikita would she take on Bukin again. You would have to be blind to not see what wonderful skating skills Ruslan has.

Is there a way though to just make your posts invisible, because you are just plain annoying ugh!!
