EVERYONE should skate to Prince.
Imagine a SD where the only requirement is "set it to a Prince song".
Twenty versions of "When Doves Cry", anyone?

Oh indeed!
Or everyone does "Raspberry Beret" and the ladies all wear the signature hat. :p
But methinks "Darling Nikki" or "Sexy MF" won't do well with the judging panel, or get vetoed in pre-season consultations.

Hey, how about if the ISU does a cross-promotion with Prince and they promote his music with figure skating at the same time?
Maybe he can perform LIVE for every song at worlds.
I would so pay to see that.
It'll be like a mini version of the Las Vegas residency shows that Celine, Bette Midler and Britney Spears are all doing.

OMG, I will  if a skater has the guts to skate to sexy MF. That would be epic. :jaw:

I´m looking at you Florent Amodio.

And for ice shows, Art on Ice had Anastasia and the Sugababes before singing live while the skaters perform (S/S). They might have tried something in the US, but it was a one-off special with gymnasts or something.

Eh, Prince as been done. I say break out some classic Beastie Boys!!! That'll push some artistic boundries. I vote for Polina to be the first to go there

How about a "block party" free dance where C/L mash it up with "Hey Ladies" and breakdance in the middle?
Could we suggest this to them directly?! Because I love your idea!!

Has anyone ever done Snap's "The Power"?
I'm definitely showing my age with my recollection of these music choices.
I'm now thinking of how the Bananarama discography would be great for any competitor born after 1990. Pop music education for all!

^Oh I love those! Piano Guys suits her perfectly  (I had suggested "Dream Fortress" by Grimes on the other music thread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZVSCdiiEF8 thought of it when I saw her Carmenita/5th element sp :)).

How about Moody Blue's, Nights in White Satin, for Volosozhar and Trankov? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rkgm1yGgbM (they have ridiculous chemistry lol).

For Adelina I'd pick something really bold like Bjork's Bachelorette https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th7QmZiz6Lc (it's a TANGO :agree: Anna P. could pull it off nicely as well -- so many great ones by Bjork<3).

I love trying to find music for skaters!
I stumbled across this music on my iPod and I think it would be great for Florent Amodio. I'm not really a fan of his skating, but I think he could pull it off:
Roméo & Juliette - the musical by Gérard Presgurvic. It's a pretty gritty, rock version of the R&J story. He could skate to the songs with lyrics though I'm sure a couple instrumental tracks also exist. The musical has been translated in several languages, including English, but Flo should probably skate to the original version :)

I would love to see footwork to this song:

Joshua is reportedly keeping his Schindler's List masterpiece for next season! I'm so happy!

Now I hope he can show the world what a proper Schindler's List looks like, with actual musicality and emotion!

Still loving this suggestion. And, given everyone's feelings about the judges, not just Prince, but one Prince song: all SPs should be set to "Controversy".

Evidently Gracie is skating to "Let it go" at SOI. I *really* can't get into that song...

I agree totally!!! TSFH is the best and Yuzuru can skate very well in this style. I think TSFH Blackhearth combines perfectly with Hanyu.

 Now you got my hopes up...I can already see it in my head. These styles fit him so well, and I hope he sticks with it next season

And like some others suggested he can do Pooh for the SP

“Bratja” from the anime Full Metal Alchemist
“Jack Sparrow” from Pirates of the Caribbean
“attack ON titan” from the anime Attack on Titan
“Short Hair” from Mulan

I like your taste in music.

I know seeing guys skate to Game of Thrones would be awesome but there are also a handful of powerful women to portray from Game of Thrones I'd love to see a lady with some fire tackle it:
Mhysa
A Lannister Always Pays his Debts

And because I hope someday someone skates to Yuki Kajiura:
Hear Our Prayer
Canta Per Me (yay lyrics)

Almost started a new thread for this but thought I'd add to the conversation here. Here's an article where some U.S. skaters weigh in on the option to skate to lyrics:

http://olympictalk.nbcsports.com/20...lyrics-gracie-gold-jason-brown-ashley-wagner/

Not surprised to see how timid skaters are about using lyrics for the competitive programs, although I was surprised that not a single one mentioned ice dancers who use lyrics. It did seem to hurt Meryl or Charlie this year with their short dance. But the song they chose and the way the lyrics were used was very tasteful. Same for Tessa and Scott.

Weaver and Poje's free dance is another fabulous example of lyrics used to great affect.

It does make me consider the bevy of world music that opens up to all figure skaters. Something like this could be really fabulous for a short for a guy or girl quick on their feet:

I really hope Joshua doesn't actually compete with John Mayer or Jason Mraz. I can appreciate wanting to do something light hearted, but he still wants something that won't feel trivial, and I'm afraid that's what will happen if he skates to one of those musicians. I could however, see something really amazing being done to something by John Butler like Ocean:

http://youtu.be/6VAkOhXIsI0?t=30s that could be INSANE for competition, and very much in the realm I think Joshua is looking for.

someone like Bjork could be really interesting.

Could be really shocking and stunning. I think you a mature woman to pull her off though. Ashley could do it well. Or Carolina.

I would also think Jonsi could be really stunning on the ice. His live version of Tornado is really special:

Or someone with real emotional heft to their skating using Grow Till Tall... I would die. You'd have to really know how to choreograph to it, but it could be real special.

These are GREAT suggestions!
Very challenging for certain, and speaking of Bjork, why hasn't any ice dancer ever used "It's Oh So Quiet" as a competitive number yet? I think it's been used in exhibition to great effect before IIRC?
