I like your taste in music.

Hear Our Prayer
Canta Per Me (yay lyrics)
I know that for the next season lyrics are allowed but I would love it if a female skater skated to this, maybe a snippet for their short program?
Young and Beautiful Instrumental
Almost started a new thread for this but thought I'd add to the conversation here. Here's an article where some U.S. skaters weigh in on the option to skate to lyrics:
Not surprised to see how timid skaters are about using lyrics for the competitive programs, although I was surprised that not a single one mentioned ice dancers who use lyrics. It did seem to hurt Meryl or Charlie this year with their short dance. But the song they chose and the way the lyrics were used was very tasteful. Same for Tessa and Scott.
Weaver and Poje's free dance is another fabulous example of lyrics used to great affect.
It does make me consider the bevy of world music that opens up to all figure skaters. Something like this could be really fabulous for a short for a guy or girl quick on their feet:
I really hope Joshua doesn't actually compete with John Mayer or Jason Mraz. I can appreciate wanting to do something light hearted, but he still wants something that won't feel trivial, and I'm afraid that's what will happen if he skates to one of those musicians. I could however, see something really amazing being done to something by John Butler like Ocean:
http://youtu.be/6VAkOhXIsI0?t=30s that could be INSANE for competition, and very much in the realm I think Joshua is looking for.
someone like Bjork could be really interesting.
or Pagan Poetry
Could be really shocking and stunning. I think you a mature woman to pull her off though. Ashley could do it well. Or Carolina.
I would also think Jonsi could be really stunning on the ice. His live version of Tornado is really special:
Or someone with real emotional heft to their skating using Grow Till Tall... I would die. You'd have to really know how to choreograph to it, but it could be real special.
These are GREAT suggestions!

Wicked Yankee Girl
Kristi Yamaguchi's exhibition number to it is very well known-which recognition tends to discourage other skaters from reusing a piece of music.
Adelina Sotnikova should use Star Wars soundtrack and dedicate it to all the haters
I would love if someone uses O Pastor by Madredeus (preferably Paul/Islam) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b-RehmqZUE

Rashela, I like that song! Hopefully we'll see some real daring and tasteful choices next season!
Seems like singles and pairs are getting more flexibility with their music choices, while dance remains as restrictive as ever. The requirement for an audible beat, which obviously gets ignored by some skaters, really makes choosing some classical pieces that pairs can use freely, out of reach for dancers
Question - has anyone skated to Beethoven's Allegreto from Symphony No. 7 before?
I know I suggested Rush for Max earlier in the thread, but really I wouldn't care which of my faves did it. The soundtrack is so amazing with so many great parts.
These are my three favourite (and chosen with Max in mind):
Watkins Glen - this one isn't long enough on its own and would need additional music.
Lost But Won
I wanted Ilinykh/Katsalapov to skate to Quand Tu Dors but that ship has sailed now, so I'll take any Ice Dance team doing it! The song has a solid story that you can express on the ice without resorting to just acting out the words.
And I'm still waiting for programs to the Atonement, Brideshead Revisited and North & South soundtracks.
Elena Ilinykh and Ruslan Zhiganshin - Beauty and the Beast
Landing 3As in my dreams!
I don't know but it's an intriguing idea! Come to think of it, the 3rd movement might be lovely, too.
