(Kristi Yamaguchi) was not particularly relevant at the time she did the show, which falls into the has been category more.

True, but now she is a two-time NY Times list bestselling author, for Dream Big Little Pig and It's a Big World, Little Pig. 100% of all profits from these children's books go to Kristi's Always Dream Foundation to support programs in early childhood literacy.

Nah, almost nothing gives skaters a bigger thrill than competition with the best and being the best. Anything else they do in life might pale in comparison. They may be successful in other endeavors but it may never give them the same serotonin explosion of a great skate and winning against all odds.

Many skaters have made fortunes and have become huge celebrities, and yet many still came back to competition or continued to compete. Many don't need to compete for more titles or make more money.

Mao, Yuna, Torvill and Dead, G&G, Lysacek (tried to), Plush, Kwan.....

So no I don't think Meryl and Charlie will become too big. They're in their late 20s too so for them to become as good as they were in something else as they are in skating is unlikely. I'm sure with their enormous drive and work ethic, they have the ingredients to make it to the top in a new line of work, but whatever it is won't give them the same adrenaline rush as their competitive Olympic years.
