Yes, Gachinski was reported to be landing all of the quads except Axel a few years back. They were planning to add the 4Lo as his third quad in the 2011-2012 season but decided to focus on the second mark more (that was the year he almost won Euros).

On the American front: Jason Brown has been landing a 4T in practice since last May but it hasn't been consistent enough to put in competition. I'll dig up the video when I have time. I've always thought Jason should try the 4F because his 3F is a thing of beauty.

Joshua Farris gave an interview late last year where he mentioned that he'd tried all of the quads in practice except Axel and found the flip to be the "easiest". His 4T is inconsistent in competition but it's always rotated and it's a beauty when he lands it.

I haven't heard that Max Aaron is planning a different quad, just trying the same two he already has. That might be a better idea.

Oh, and there was a video of Plushy's 3A-4T getting around at one point. I can't seem to find it at the moment. All I can say is that I can see why he thought it wasn't worth it - it looked back-breakingly difficult.

So all the top young men have tried most quads except 4Axel. Next quad would be very awesome to watch. Quad VS Quad!!! WOW

It looks like Yulia was right there taking notes.
    Holy crap! That was impressive!

I would love to see more of the young ladies performing quads. Developing artistry is nice and all, but being the first woman to land a 4T, especially under scrutiny of CoP would be legendary.

Brandon Mroz will never be a World Champion but to be the first guy to do a 4Z (the hardest jump ever executed) automatically makes up for it.

Anyone with two eyes can plainly see Miki's 4S at JW (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi1331g-qcI) should not have been ratified as the first ever quad (it was almost <<). So, the honour of legitimately getting the first quad landed by a lady is still up for grabs.

Will it be Yulia, Adelina or Radionova? Any idea about other ladies?

A logical guess would be Mae. Honestly with her strength she has the best advantage IMO. She is in great shape and has great jump technique in terms of power and height. To me it seems her programs are always going to train wreck at some point anyway so why not go for broke? I honestly picked her to beat Ashley in Japan

I think Adelina has the best jumps now and will probably add a quad or a 3a before any girls skating today.

I'd rather see a well put together program than a quad. I'm just not that overly into jumps and prefer that they add to a program instead of define it.

Huh, weird. In the Kanako Murakami thread you have been insisting that if one is not an ISU tech specialist at an event using their official video feeds etc. then one is not in a position to question the UR calls (or lack thereof) made in the event.

Well, anyway... It would be cool if one of the Russian girls managed a quad, sure.

When it comes to definitive calls like that one, you don't need to be an ISU specialist to see that it's UR... but when it comes to borderline UR calls, then the ISU specialist should be considered the one most suited and with the most suitable technology to make that call.

This quad by Miki's however looks a bit cleaner in terms of getting the rotation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3o9J3UdBF8

I would wager it'll be Sotnikova. Julia has a strong 3T which she can execute off of nothingness, but the height isn't there to do a quad. Gold's jumps seem to be losing height, so I don't expect her to be the one to do it. You never know what the ladies are practicing in the off-season though.

But Liza has lot of different problems to overcome. I don't know if she will be able to perform like she did before injury again. I like Liza, but I am not sure about her condition at the moment. I hope Yulia will be the first, though.

From what I've seen they have all claimed it with exception to Radinova. Yulia, Tuk, Adelina...they have all claimed to have been training them. Maybe they are just trying to bait there competition into injury.

Yulia-Doubtful. I really think she would have to 2a-4t with her technique

Adelina- she can do it but she probably just wants to win a GP and World medal first. (Maybe 3a)

Tuk- Technique is good for height, no doubt about that. She probably should just start landing her current layout more effectively and move up in the rankings first.

Hanyu has landed another 4Lo at SOI Japan to the delight of the fans. But again, there may not have been TV cameras there and taking videos is forbidden in the arena. Well, at least we know it wasn't a fluke. Fans report that while the last 4Lo he landed had a eked-out landing, this one was 'outstanding'.

-If I remember correctly, he has tried the 4Lo at 4 shows and has landed it 2 times now.
In an interview with Oda, he was asked 'how do you jump a 4Loop?' Hanyu answered, 'You jump it with a whoosh!'
Oda said, 'I don't know whoosh.'
