How does the 'seeding' work? Is it just the top 6 finishers at Worlds, from amongst those that continue the following season? So for instance, Tatiana and Max, if they compete next year, won't be seeded in Pairs? (Obviously they will get essentially whatever Grand Prix assignments they want, but my point is that it becomes a bit of a "Russian Roulette" - pun intended, for figuring out who will skate where, having some of the very best teams "out" of the seeding per se. This will make some events extra competitive in a way that is harder (though not impossible) to predict. Not impossible because you can bet Cup of Russia will want them there to help juice ticket sales for that event.

Grand Prix 2013 announcement (no chages in these moment with respect to previous seasons):
2.1 Seeded Skaters/Couples
a) Skaters/couples who have placed 1 – 6 in each of the 4 disciplines (Men, Ladies, Pairs, Ice Dance) at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2013 will be considered to be seeded skaters/couples and will be assigned, by draw, to skate in two events.
b) If any vacancies (less than 6 seeded skaters/couples per discipline) remain, the next ranked skater/couple from the results of the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships will be moved up to fill their position as a seeded skater/couple.

Btw, Tanya and Max told in interview, that they plan to skate in GP. They will not have GP Events by Worlds results, but their season best (1st) guarantees them two spots. And they are so interesting for Organizing Members, that they can choose any two Events that they want.
No real difference with seeded skaters.

They actually are not, in a technical sense, guaranteed 2 spots- they are only guaranteed one.

With that said, they will certainly get two. However, the only people guaranteed 2 spots are the top 12 finishers in each discipline at Worlds.

Yes. In theory - 1, in fact - all of Top10 of Season Best have 2 spots.

Do we know that Adelina isn't doing the GP? Or is she just going to be unseeded because she didn't go to Worlds? That seems kind of silly to me, but rules are rules I guess. I'm sure she'll turn up at CoR and some other GP.

As, IMO, they should :) I hope Tukt will be able to turn the tides a bit this year. I am worried for her.

Sotnikova, Lipnitskaya, Pogorilaya, and Radionova are all pretty much guaranteed two. Lipnitskaya and Pogorilaya are the #1 and #2 seeds; Sotnikova is #1 on the WR and SB lists; Radionova is in the top 10 on both WR and SB lists.

Tuktamysheva is #14 on the WR list and #21 on the SB list and on that basis she could get two assignments, but it's not guaranteed. Leonova is #19 on the SB list, but she isn't in the top 24 on the WR list. She might get an assignment, but two are by no means guaranteed.

Skaters for the first JUNIOR Grand Prix event won't be posted until about 28 days before the start of the first JGP event (Courchevel, August 20-24th). So you won't see the Courchevel roster until after the 25th of July---about a month later than the GP announcement.

Their SEASONS BEST scores are in the top 20, but they are not ranked top 20 in the world. On the World Ranking list, Sakhanovich is #40, Medvedeva is #44 and Proklova is #82.

That will be wonderful, so many young talents! It will be feast after feast for our FS fans.

Side track, I have to give some credits to state-sponsored sport systems like Russia's or former Soviet Union's, it is a very efficient to produce great outcomes. (Sorry, I hope I didn't open a can of worms)

Challenger Series will be great for the skaters who couldn't get a GP assignment to get more experience.

And they will give more world standing points + prize money comparing to old senior B competitions.

The lower rank skaters in Russia, USA and Japan will also be able to compete. This will be the solution for the deep talent of Russia when all the super babies become senior.

Not guaranteed but I think at least Russia may give host spot to Leonova.
