I'm certain that the choreographer should be Robin Cousins.

From your lips to God's ears!

I have never heard this music... simple, but somehow able to convey a complex mood. I think it's an excellent choice.

If Cousins is on choreo... it's inspired.

Yes, Robin Cousins will do the choreography.

Wow, I hadn't heard the music before, but I'm really loving it

I don't know if you watch pair skating, but Savchenko/Szolkowy were the first ones to skate to Pina soundtrack and their program was very well received by fans, some consider it a masterpiece and their signature program. (if you are curious, this is the best they've skated this program: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7DKgzp_NQc around minute 2:15 starts the song Jeremy is skating to)

I am delighted with Jeremy's choice. He is one of the few who can make this program his own, without comparing it with S/S's version

Don't forget this was Menshov's SP music just last season! I thought the program really suited his angular, quirky style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo9YDEcBO_g

Yes, I wanted to point out that too. :) But I'd like to add that Konstantin Menshov used Pina soundtrack as well for his short program last season: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUao0YIGuLY . It's the same piece Jeremy is skating to.

I completely forgot about Menshov's Pina, thank you. I wasn't crazy about it at first but then it grew on me. I think it's a great piece of music for figure skating.

Is there any info about I/K's music? I am dying to see what breathtaking masterpieces Morozov is giving them this year.

Thanks, everyone! Ok, now I feel really stupid. I've seen both S/S and Menshov's programs  I have absolutely no idea how they slipped my mind, but somehow, maybe because I hadn't seen the programs in a while the music felt new? I have no excuse

Anyway, now that I've really listened to the music, I'm loving it. Great choice by Jeremy. And now I'm off to rewatch the programs!

Orser said that they'd been working on finding music for a new SP, but that the new SP was coming out with a very similar mood to Parisian Walkways, to 'since it's very similar' he proposed to just keep it. They are going to rework the choreography and change the costume.

Yuzuru has a record on Golden Skate, by the way: the greatest amount of so-called 'fans' who wish him bad  Patrick's fans are desperate for him to find a good tech coach because they want him to win the Olympics, and Yuzuru's 'fans' want him to give up half of his on-ice training, his dancing classes, his skating skills and compulsory figure training, all of his new specialised coaches, loads of available ice whenever he wants it, his acupuncturist, his new free program that he actually likes, so that he can go back to training in the middle of the night in Sendai alone. And after doing this, he will obviously become a better skater

Honestly it doesn't seem there are scientific proves that acupuncture is effective in treating asthma and , physically speaking, Yuzu has just experienced his worst season ever, collapsing from the beginning at FT to the end in London, so that we could assume that quantity ( facilities-dance classes-new specialized choaches etc..) doesn't automatically and necessarily means quality...

In any case, it's rather weird and frustrating that the canadian team has openly admitted to be unable to imagine something different from PW SP, whose electric guitar is ear destroying and boring to death after a whole season, while it's paradoxical that they decided to resume Nanami's original route in order to play safe with her (former) kid...

With a lighter touch of humor we could say that Orser & Wilson are admirably attesting Nanami's pure genius ...

Ditto Deedee (hey that rhymes!) Even though Romeo and Juliet is among my fav programs of all time, and Hanyu is one of my all time fav skaters, but I really expect something much better from him sigh..... rehash his WR programs/character is plain lazy/typecasting, sooo Patrick Chan.. urghh...Oh Hanyu!

Everyone seems to play very safe this year. You forgot Jeremy is redoing his Muse too (but actually I am looking forward to it) With exception of Dai (+ Jason brown?) so far. Anyone doing something original, risk taking and brave new genres deserve +3 from me and hopefully the judges.

Right...:slink: But I can forgive him I think, because of THIS!

I'm certain that the choreographer should be Robin Cousins.

The news that Jeremy working with Robin Cousins has just made my day!

I say wait and see what the actually program is like before berating the poor kid and his team any further. I do agree that Brian Orser probably wasn't the best choice for Yuzu but what's done is done. They do seem unsure of how to package him, but trying to make him more refined and mature takes away what made him so appealing in the first place. That is his youth and rawness. At the very least he does have a world class facility at his hands. Asthma can be a difficult condition to control and I'm sure they are trying to do everything they can. And it's not like he's going to do the same choreography to the Nino Rota R&J. His original program was angsty while this version should be more romantic and dramatic. I also don't understand all the outrage about skaters reusing old programs or music. I mean I want to see innovative programs as much as everyone else, but you have to remember the skaters are in it to win. If they have a record breaking program that they are comfortable with and still want to do, why not? It's not like it wasn't done before. How many times did Sasha Cohen use Dark Eyes? Michelle Kwan also used her Feeling Begins and Rachmaninov programs for more than one season.

I just watched Bent/MacKeen new FD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV1omg4R95o): for me the program is quite nice, but not very mature and the choreography is not really intricate/sophisticated, it's still a very Junior-like program; the twizzles are difficult, the footwork is executed quite well, the only thing I didn't like very much, technically, were the lifts... However, what I want to say it's that the music is SO DISTRACTING!! I wasn't able to pay attention to the program a lot of times during it because of the beautiful music! ;):slink::laugh:

Bent/MacKeen ARE Juniors! I am sure they will grow into their program and into their abilities as ice dancers. I have seen them live the last two years and they have really progressed and are very finished most of the time. Its also fairly early in the season though I guess the JGP will be beginning soon.

I don't really see how Yuzuru is recycling an old long program. He is skating to a completely different piece of music from the one he skated to in 2011/2012. The fact that both pieces just happen to be soundtracks to movie versions of the same play is irrelevant. Both pieces of music are very different stylistically from each other and can be interpreted in very different ways. Niño Rota's Romeo and Juliet may have been used before (ok used a lot before) but I can't recall another mens skater really owning it. Also I can't really blame skaters or choreographers for not taking musical "risks" during an Olympic season. Sometimes it pays off..but it can just as easily backfire. I for one can't wait to see Yuzuru's new program!
