:points::party2::rock: I absolutely loved it!!!!!!!!! Wow, she never really disappoints me in terms of her music choice! Sometimes it made me worry since some of her music - Homage or Vampire - were very new but not really audience/judge friendly. But this time both musics are already known yet not overused or considered as warhorse for Olympics. Adios will be perfectly suited for fierce Yuna, Oh, I just can't wait to see it!!!!

Same here. So excited by her choices and I can envision what her programs might look like on the ice (I expect to be shedding a few tears). However I have one question; in regards to tempo, doesn't "Send In The Clowns" seem a little down-tempo to what she usually skates in her SP? Now, it just the choreography...

I personally think Yuna's choices are rather challenging.

The pieces are well known, masterfully beautiful and have been done by quite some but less than... Ballets and Operas, so are proven doable multiple times. However, they have also been proven hard to impress; neither of "Send in the Clowns" nor "Adios Nanino" is easy to perform to beyond the audio (I automatically stop 'looking' and focus on ears; I usually enjoy "watching" when I view musical performance videos). While these are memorable pieces, they also don't have the vigourous impact to capture the moment in between all those tension created by other skaters one after another. None of the past programs to these pieces have made a recollectable statement. (Except Buttle, but most of us sure had to ask and search up to find out that he skated to this, right?)

I hope Yuna's edit would make "Adios Nanino" more dramatic - I mean, it's deep and dramatic already, but... "commercial", I guess? Including a blissful full string orchestra rearrangement near the climax could help (many rearrangements exist):

...And I really hope Wilson, though I love his talent, would go back to pre-2011-12, and make the choreography like... not replications? Although, I always think having him do one program and another do the other would've given her a broader range. I wish she hadn't gone through all that history to have a small trust pool.

now its official, Olympics we'll a showdown of Latin/Tango themed musics

...:slink: their music announcement...just makes me to feel that Yuzuru's Romeo, Dai's Beatles medley, Max's Carmen, Ashley's Juliet, even Akiko's Phantom, all do have a fresh sound to me now, so to speak. :sarcasm:

When I first saw Yuna's music choices I thought ugh, boring. But they are growing on me now. Send in the Clowns is a very pretty song. "Clowns" is used as a synonym for "fools" because it happened to sound better so it's not literal. I would assume David Wilson would have enough musical background to know that so I don't think we'll be seeing the Bozo Show. For those who have taken the clown reference literally, e.g. Adam Rippon's Clown/Pagliacci mash-up, it's a sign of ignorance. Unfortunately there are no guarantees when Yuna takes this to her ATS shows. I can already imagine a circus theme group number with all the requisite gaudy attire.

As for Adios Nonino, I think she'll do very well with a tango and the farewll theme is perfect. I really liked Kanako's take on it last season but I don't think they'll be comparable. Kanako is cute and spunky. Yuna will go the more sensual route for sure. I just hope she doesn't overcook it because the sexiness looks contrived when she does.

It'll also be interesting to see what she does with her exhibition, in the likely event that she and Carolina both make the podium. I much prefer Carolina's version of Imagine, both musically and choreographically plus she debuted it first. For Yuna maybe a reprise of Homage to Korea?

Wow, I always wanted to see someone skating to the GoT soundtrack, because I think it is a good piece for figure skating! From this list, I think it is amazing, because loads of the younger skaters have great choices and are not as boring as the seniors! I think I will pay more attention to the juniors, this season, because most of these music choices are so great! I hope the choreos, will be equally as exciting (As far as possible for juniors).

SP La Boheme, Paco de Lucia by Almoraima
LP Dralion from Cirque Du Soleil, Varekai from Cirque Du Soleil

I don't think ISU really updated Jin-Seo's biography. He's using soundtrack from 'The Mask' for his SP and soundtrack from the 'Legends of the Fall' for his LP this season.

La Boheme&Cirque Du Soleil are his programs from last season.

And when musicians release "greatest hits" albums, they ARE basically making a tribute to themselves and getting extra mileage and cash from old works with minimal effort.

Plu said about the program(google tranlation)

- Such a program is easier to make? After all, once you've done it.
- On the contrary - even more difficult. We are doing everything new! And it's important to get at least no worse than it was, with all the pieces of my best programs. But it's interesting. Naturally, we insert new elements, modify, invent. One can not simply add up all of the programs, all the pieces of choreography, which once served - and get a new program. It's just not possible! Figure skating is going forward in terms of tranzitions, slides, spins. And have to go with it the legs (smiles).

Do you think this guy is arrogante? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8acq8492xkc or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOo7RfflL10 :) look at please

I think Jeffrey Buttle did an amazing Adios. Yuna is Yuna - Queen for now of skating so I am sure it will be a masterpiece. I do wish though more skaters would try different choreographers - bravo to Chan and others who mix it up. I remember seeing old skates and it appeared Sandra Bezic was the it girl. You just wrote basically Bezic on your back and bingo you are an artist on ice lol. Yes she did good work but still...I hear she focusses on commentating and ice shows so she makes more money that way - it would be awesome to see her do one program or a few. Now those who have Morosov should try Zueva or Wilson or even Zhulin or Krylova/Camelango perhaps. Buttle and bourne have done some nice work too.

I wonder, why would one believe Skater A do fundamentally better with Choreographer 1 than with Choreographer 2? Who has the immediate tool to carve a piece out of raw material? Skater or choreographer, primarily? It's not to trivialize choreography writing, but I think it’s primarily the performer that can make the difference. Besides, we’ve seen too many cases a performer with blunt tool watering down the routine conceived by a choreographer, not to mention never getting it right in the first place.

Davis, White mine Middle East for new free dance
Team to skate to 'My Fair Lady' for short, 'Scheherazade' for free
Posted 8/27/13 by Lynn Rutherford, special to icenetwork
http://www.icenetwork.com/news/2013/08/27/58610472
The world ice dance champions will perform to Nikoli Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, the tale of a Persian sultan who has vowed to execute each of his wives after the first nuptial night. His bride Scheherazade weaves stories that keep the sultan entertained for 1,001 nights. Finally, he resolves to spare her life and make her queen.

The music long ago cast its own spell on the skaters and their coach, Marina Zoueva.

"Even as far back as four or six years ago, any time we heard it, we talked about how much we loved it," Davis, 26, said. "It gave us chills. Now, we feel like we can do it justice."

"Obviously, it's great music, and more than that, we always felt the connection," White, 25, said. "Marina felt it suited us perfectly. We considered using it last season, but it's just too perfect as an Olympic program."

...

For their short dance to quickstep and foxtrot rhythms, they're sticking a bit closer to home, with selections from Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady, including "I Could Have Danced All Night," "With a Little Bit of Luck" and "Get Me to the Church on Time."

"Our approach is to try to capture the feeling Eliza Doolittle had when she sang 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' which is really the song the short dance is focused on," Davis said.

"As the ISU has said, the quickstep is all about champagne -- a bubbly, happy feeling, like the essence of 'I Could Have Danced All Night,'" White said.

I think all the top ladies should skate to Sheherazade. They have all skated to that piece. So it's all fair game for everyone.
The best one will get the gold medal. The boring ones will be sent to the Middle East.

I hope Yuna will change her exhibition to something Korean, looking forward to Pyeongchang 2018. She did change her exhibition in the middle of the last Olympic season, so there is precedent.

Nothing wrong with Imagine, I like the message of world peace she conveys. But the choreography is kind of cheesy, with her flashing #1 signs every time the word "one" is sung. John Lennon would be much better too.

LOL, Virtue/Moir skated a very enjoyable exhibition program to a jazzy version of "I Could Have Danced All Night." They performed it for the first time at 2007 Skate Canada. Starting at approx. 2:50, it includes a few seconds that are very reminiscent of the Finnstep.

And LOL again for a second reason: Virtue's idol Audrey Hepburn played the title role in the film of My Fair Lady.
