    I don't know how this thread will turn out :O but the free skate that most resonated with me was by far Mao Asada's free skate at Sochi. Not so much the technical ability and artistry (I still prefer Yuna's for artistry), but just the situation in which it was done. To me this reminded me of Michelle Kwan's "Fields of Gold" performance at the 2002 Olympics -- a look at what might have been. I'm a grown man in my 30s but it just broke my heart seeing Mao starting to sob even while trying to hold her end pose.

    They do, they hand them out at the Governors Awards in November. That's why you don't see them on the main telecast anymore. It's also where they give out the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which this year went to Angelina Jolie for her work with UNHCR.

    Achievement award for Tatiana Tarasova is rightful. But Humanitarian Award would definitely not for her.
