So it all depends on what figure skating really is. If the greatness is supposed to be measured by number of facial grimaces to performing Ave Maria, then definitely REMOVE it from the olympics! And then good luck making this artistic activity (but not sport) survive!
Sorry, you cannot have cake and eat it. Either world wide sport with media and money, but also with rules and athletic requirements, or obscure "artistic" activity paid from your own pockets, because I am not going to give a penny to that thing!

I do not have anyone close who learn figure skate so I do not know the cost students should pay. I think if the figure skate is acknowledged as tough sports and not just dancing a fixed pattern on the ice looking graceful, it will have more watchers and they will have respect and love for the skaters who master such techniques and can perform in competitions. More people might consider sending their children to home rinks of such skaters to learn figure skating.

Except "de" takes the ablative, so it would be "de minimis" Latin memories are overwhelmng me.

Yeap skyfly can be very scary OTT but I'm sure he/she has very solid knowledge of actual FS world. Some of skyfly comments are very straight to the point. For some is just pure ugly obsessions.

Would be kinda scary if she were actually a coach. All of her students must be on Victoria Secret Model standards.

Changes can be made to make it more a pure sport but then many of you and me might lose interest. No to OP.

When will these whacks ever shut up. Now they want the marquee event of the games to be removed coz they felt their favorites were underhanded. Maybe in Pyeongchang they can have curling as main event when figure skating is remove.

It's kind of destructive behavior little children posses. If I can't play with the toy then I will destroy the toy.

Or possibly "de minimo"? Singular ablative second declension? I guess that part of our brain never really empties out. I wonder whether I could still translate Caesar's "Gallic Wars"?

^ I remember two things from high school. All Gaul is divided into three parts and B squared minus four AC.

And must starve themselves constantly to meet their standards.

The only thing I know about Gaul is Asterix and Obelix.

Nomitive, accusative, genitive, dative, ablative! (My HS Latin didn't get into the seven cases, only the five).

If FS were to be removed from Olympics, its popularity would be even smaller than it is today. I can't imagine who would benefit from such a step.

Coaches with that type of attitude don't last long as coaches -- or any respectable profession really.
