I've actually had some of this written down since 2006, Ladskater. It continues to become more refined and added onto. ISU finally passed rules for giving < jumps more credit this past quad, but of course they completely messed up the GOE scores for jumps. It's sad to me that we have a mathematical system for judging figure skating, but the people in control of the system don't actually understand math or the sport/art of figure skating. Sigh.

The proposal to remove anonymous judging just failed to pass through the 2014 ISU Congress. The people running the sport have no clue whatsoever.

Ouch, that hurts. Wish I could say I'm surprised but I'm not.

Well, we should look wider on this aspect I think. I also was on for removing anonymus judging but.. let's think longer. If anonymus would be removed I can imagine even more tons of complains of people regarding judging their favourites due to nationality of judges.
What they should do is to concentrate on choosing better people on judges panels.... ; )

I often thought that when COP started there were still the same judges. I think most of them didn't like the new system/didn't understand it or even hated it. One thing I like with cop is that it shouldn't matter if you are the first or the last skater. I think many judges still "leave room" for later skaters. Still it's ISU's responsibilaty to educate the judges and recruit new ones. Many former skaters become judges after they finish their skating carriers. But I think there is not yet a skater, who competed under cop that has become a judge or controller? It's only gone ten years.

Sad but not surprised about the anonymous judging. How many and which countries voted for a removal? Or is that also a secret

Great pity where accountability and transparency are not regarded more important to the integrity and credibility of the sport. The judges score should able to withstood more public scrutiny.

The system has kinks but its biggest kink is what it is designed to do vs how federations can abuse it at their special privilege are at completely different ends of the spectrum.

Just who get to vote? The Federations or the Judges? Are the skaters themselves represented?

Does anyone else find it completely baffling that the Republic of Korea voted to KEEP anonymous judging?? Yet the bigger feds (Japan, Russia, US) voted against it...

Is the KSF that out of touch??

If they did INDEED vote to keep it, I think they are perfectly in touch and will do what is necessary to enjoy their 'hosting country' traditional privileges, for the reason why US and Russia are now voting against it having both previously benefited under it, just think it through...Lol! It is only fair, everyone get their 'turn'.

    Very true.

Certainly it took some getting used to. Maybe some judges who really hated it simply took early retirement from this volunteer position that wasn't fun for them any more. The rest learned to adapt -- some better than others.

Many former skaters become judges after they finish their skating carriers. But I think there is not yet a skater, who competed under cop that has become a judge or controller? It's only gone ten years.
I don't know offhand of anyone who has gone from competitor to international judge or technical controller within those 10 years. There are surely some within the pipeline at a domestic level in various countries.

I think there are some who have become international tech specialists within that time -- since it's a position that never existed before so there isn't a backlog of older TSs.

    The federations.
How much attention each fed pays to the concerns of its skaters and/or its officials probably varies.
