I'm always interested in discovering new music with skating! What are the most unusual/unpredictable choices you've heard from top skaters in skating competitions? Some here:
-Carolina Shostacovich Allegretto, 2012 SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IutFxNBUujU she took this strange music and created someting incredibly graceful and elegant with it!
-the music that both Lipnitskaya and Sakhanovich used for their SP music this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gS6so9uqgs never heard it before...
-V/T 2012 SP "Bring me back to life" by Evanescence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7am6hunOgI very famous song, but never used it before for a competition program, I think
-Alissa's 2010/2011 SP "Romance from Violin Concerto" by Korngold: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtmqxhv0Aog very elegant and refined choice, just as she is!

Ashley Wagner's SP in 2011/2012-never heard it before, she used this music...and also her music for SP in 2013/2014 season. I mean that I know the song, but it is pretty unusual music for figure skating, especially in ladies category.

Ahh, I'm not sure that this qualifies....but I feel like using the soundtrack from "Ghost" is an odd choice...sooo - who could forget linykh & Katsalapov "The Ghost" FD a couple of years back?

- Honestly, I know a lot of people really hate this program....but I don't. It's definitely not a favorite and is certainly an odd choice but I guess I feel like I've seen worse...

his two better performances of this lp, never really skated it cleanly but i love the unusual music choice!

I love Joe Hisaishi's music!! There are so many great ghibli soundtracks, nausicaa, spirited away, howl's moving castle...I hope to watch more skaters skating to them!

I guess Yuna's Hommage to Korea is unusual one haha Though Koreans were very familiar with the melody, people outside Korea probably weren't. I loved it of course :)
Are there other good performances with traditional music? I think I've watched some but I can't remember clearly lol

Why nobody have mentioned Takahashi's 'blues for klook'? It is very unusual to use blues for figure skating.
I agree it's brilliant but Daisuke wasn't first to use this music. In 1993 Usova Zhulin chose this music for their FD and it was also great.
