Notice that despite all the naysaying in other threads of Ashley being "on a downside" or whatever, she is still the top-ranked U.S. Lady at No. 4.

Yes-- two American ladies in the top 5 (if we removed the retirees), not bad considering the past few years!!

I would have thought Polina Edmunds would have been somewhere on the list given her top 10 finishes at both the Olympics and Worlds. I guess the minimal number of international assignments given to her by USFS was the issue.

That and the previous season which also counts.

Abbott ought to take one look at this and completely reconsider any notion of coming back. In spite of how "bad" he was, Max is still the second-ranked US man (and where on earth did Dornbush come from to take first?). But it's the proximity of Joshua and Jason that ought to have him really thinking. Jason is ahead, and Joshua only just behind, when their entire last season's points came from junior competition, which is worth fewer ranking points. If Joshua hadn't had the injury at CoR, I'd wager he'd have ended up ahead of Jeremy too.

Why is Kostner in such a low spot? I think she was 1st one year ago, and she did accomplish quite a lot, this season, too...

on the gp this season she hasn't had great result and she has lost her european title, while the last season she didn't compete in the gp circuit and so that's other points lost

She got silver at CoR and likely should have won gold. I say this as a fan of the gold medalist. After her gifted Worlds Bronze I have since cleared my conscience:biggrin:

Congratulations to Ashley for being the top ranked American lady!

Four Russians in the top 9 is also super impressive (especially Lip and Sot being #2 and #3).

I agree. The Worlds bronze was a bit of a recompense for being utterly screwed out of a GP gold in her final season. It sucks that Pogorilaya being a relative newbie, was the collateral damage because she thoroughly outskated both Lipnitskaia and Kostner, overall, in my opinion. I'd have had her just a point or two shy of silver, or at least place 2nd in the FS.
