How the heck did Vanessa Lam get a GP assignment? Didn't she finish like next to last place at Nationals? Someone like Barbie Long or Hannah Miller should have gotten an invite before Lam. Heck i'd rather see someone like Mariah Bell get one before Lam.

That's one of the lists marked with May 8th. Maybe she was a placeholder and got switched out and that's an old copy?
She did finish next to last at Nationals, and didn't have super stellar junior results either. I don't get why top ten finishers would get passed over for her...

I'm very excited for Elena and Ruslan. I think the Cup of China and the Rostelecom Cup will be good events for them. I wish we got to see Nelli and Ruslan competing against each other this year though.

Very excited for the Rostelecom Showdown... There. Will. Be. Blood.
(just kidding)

Yes! I think those will be good assignments for them as well! :) I think that Rostelecom has an awesome line-up for dance!!!

The date below the assignements is "May 8, 2014"...

The links to all four PDFs finally have been published on the ISU Grand Prix page, so that adds credibility that everything is official now (even though the links still go to Men and Ladies PDFs dated May 8).

ETA:
And USFS has put out a press release now.

Don't you have to have a top ten finish at Worlds or a top 24 score to even be eligible for the GP?

Don't you have to have a top ten finish at Worlds or a top 24 score to even be eligible for the GP?

Top 12 highest finishers at worlds guaranteed 2 assignments: Lipnitskaia, Pogorilaya, Gold, Wagner, Edmunds, Park, Murakami, Osmond, Weinzierl, Daleman, J. Helgesson, Meite (24 spots)

The top 24 season's best/world ranking guaranteed one (all got 2; 20 spots):
SB: Sotnikova (1), Radionova (10) Miyahara (13) Li (15), Leonova (19), Tuktamysheva (20), Imai (22)
WR: Marchei (13) Hicks (18) Gao (19)

That leaves 28 spots. There are 6 host picks that are TBD.

After that host nations can opt to invite anyone from the top 75 in SB (and/or WR?), which they did (for the most part):
Cesario (27 SB; 25 WR)
H.J. Kim (31 SB; 38 WR)
Chartrand (32 SB; 35 WR)
Cain (40 SB; 109 WR )
Mallet (43; 66 WR)
Hongo (44; 29 WR)
K. Zhang (45 SB; 45 WR)
Gosviani (46 SB; 27 WR)
Wang (47 SB; 54 WR)
V. Helgesson (50 SB; 15 WR)
Oba (52 SB ; 39WR)
Han (54 SB; 32 WR)
Gedevanishvili (55; 51 WR)
Popova (58 SB; 33 WR)
Brezinova (59 SB ;46 WR)
Ovcharova (62 SB; 70 WR)
Gjersem (64; 92 WR)
Lecavelier (73 SB; 49 WR)

Artemyeva and Lam, however do not fit either of the criteria...so I guess :headscrach:

Does anyone know when the JGP assignment list will be posted?

They don't, generally. It's not like the Senior GP. Entries are announced I think 30 days before each event, so there's no fixed list.

Okay, Senior GP time.

BROOKLEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH HOORAY! I wonder if Dani and Greg could have got one too? Imagine that!!!!!

Max at Skate Canada (okay, especially without inflation this year) and Cup of Russia - YES! Quad Battle joined!

Josh at Cup of China (Yuck, what a field!) and NHK! He got his wish!

Jason at Skate America (DUH) and also Cup of Russia! This one surprised me enormously. I wonder if Plushy's little fanboying episode had something to do with this?

Artur got Skate America . Softest field of the lot, I think, so a good platform for him to relaunch his career - IF he gets scored fairly this time. He wasn't great at SkAm last year, but he deserved to beat Majorov at least.

The real shocker for me: NO KOVTUN AT COR. This really threw me for a loop. I don't know what to think about it. I thought for sure he'd get it - a little home scoring after all. But Voronov and Kolyada and one TBD. Kovtun at COC and TEB? Seems...strange! I wonder what's going on? Is Kovtun falling from favour with the fed? (Doesn't seem logical?)

Kostya at SkCan and TEB! Go Old Man Menshov! (hahaha, how hilarious would it be if he beat Kovtun again?)

...Hmm. I think I need to recalibrate my sensors. I keep looking at the fields going, "This isn't that bad for so-and-so!" and so far I've gone through four of the six assignments in that way. Oops.

But interesting that NHK, one of the toughest fields traditionally, is not looking that tough this year.

Once I realized Yulia couldn't be at SA because of the seeding, I hoped she would be at SC because it's only a few hours from where I live. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be content with watching online again.

Does anyone think we could actually get an all Russian GPF for the Ladies? I know someone joked about it, but could it actually happen?

If SA Elena 15, Eliza 13 or Gracie 15, Elena 13 Eliza 11
SC Anna 15, Aleona 13 or Katelyn 15, Anna 13, Aleona 11
COC Yulia 15, Eliza 13 or Yulia 15, Zijun 13, Eliza 11
RC Adelina 15, Anna 13 Adelina 15, So Youn 13, Anna 11
TEB Yulia 15, Elena 13 or Yulia 15, Ashley 13, Elena 11
NKH Adelina 15, Aleona 13 or Polina 15, Adelina 13, Aleona 11

Yulia 30, 30
Adelina 30, 28
Elena 26, 24
Anna 26, 24
Aleona 26, 22
Eliza 26, 22

Even if someone beats one or two of these ladies at one event as long as the same person didn't beat one of the others at another event, it seems like it could happen. It probably won't though because Eliza and Aleona will face stiff competition, especially Aleona at NKH. If it looked like it was going to happen would the judges be encouraged to stop it at NKH?

I definitely think Canada should have picked Yulia if they had the ability to. Seems kinda short sighted to hurt ticket sales and exposure just to give Osmond a slightly better chance of winning.

Because I love crunching numbers...

Comments: Lipnitskaia should win easily here, with Wagner and Radionova on the podium. Meite, Cesario, Osmond and Hicks are dark horses.

NHK Trophy
Sotnikova (RUS) 224.59
Gold (USA) 205.53
Murakami (JPN) 196.91
Edmunds (USA) 187.50
Miyahara (JPN) 186.53
Li (CHN) 181.56
Leonova (RUS) 178.15
Gao (USA) 173.69
Daleman (CAN) 165.78
Gosviani (RUS) 157.17
Ovcharova (SWI) 143.22
TBD

Comments: On paper, Sotnikova, Gold and Murakami look good for the podium, but I see Miyahara, Edmunds and Li crashing the party.

GPF Picks: Lipnitskaia (wins both events), Pogorilaya (win SC, gets at least second in RC), Sotnikova, Radionova, Gold. I say the last spot will be a battle between Wagner, Edmunds, Murakami and Miyahara.

Men next....

There's probably no way for a Russian sweep judging from this list. Maybe 5 could make it, though.

Does anyone know what Maria Zigalova and Egor Zakroev are doing?

SC is extremely weak for the ladies, I think they're setting up Kaetlyn to win (although Ashley should get almost-home cooking scores).
