I googled for the venue "Sala polivalente del Fórum de Barcelona" and didn't get any exact matches.

But there is a news article --> HERE in Spanish... which seems to confirm CCIB as the venue... but I have no idea how reliable/accurate/credible that site is or where they got their information:

"La pista se instalará en la sala polivalente del Centro Internacional de Convenciones de Barcelona (CCIB) del Fórum de Barcelona, convertido por vez primera en un recinto deportivo y tendrá una capacidad para 5.500 espectadores"

The official press release from the Spanish federation (I will add the link to the OP):

Re the venue, it says:

ETA, what seems to be CCIB's own official website:

ETA:
You didn't ask ;), but IMO, it would be rare for Reuters to get a basic fact wrong in this kind of situation -- meaning in which the reporters are being spoon-fed the correct information at a press conference where the promoters are seeking publicity to generate ticket sales.

Thanks for the link.

I don't understand what you mean by "Again Men event day by day"... I don't see anything unusual about the schedule?

I think they're referring to the men's short & long being on consecutive days, without a day's break in between. Many thought (I did myself) that this tight schedule contributed to the Sochi splatfest - even some skaters such as Chan gave interviews to that effect.

Correct me if I'm wrong: it is my understanding that either Senior Bs or GP events or both of them usually don't schedule a day's break between the programs, only the Olympics? And Sochi was the first time they broke tradition and that was possibly because of the Team event?

I had such trouble booking the tickets this morning, was at the site at 9 am sharp when it went on-line, but it was entirely my own fault. ;-/
Fixed it now, hurah.
Can't wait, I love Barcelona, it'll be great to go there again, and now with an added reason!

The event is in the CCIB, we know it as "Forum building", it's at the end of Diagonal Avenue and very close to a mall and the metro and with a few hotels around. It looks like a nice place, I already got my tickets and booked my hotel.

If you need any kind of translation let me know

When would ticket for men single be available?
The individual tickets aren't by event but by session: Thursday has 2 sessions: 1 with the juniors and 1 with 2 senior events; Friday, Saturday and Sunday have only 1 session.

I'm trying to decide whether to get a hotel at the Diagonal del Mar area or closer to the city center and just take the metro.

I remember the area being quite out of the way (I once took a bus at Diagonal avenue and stayed seated all the way just to see where I'd end up. That is where! ;-)
it was worth it, though, good shopping center)

It depends on what you're planning to do but, honestly, I would recommend you to stay in a hotel closer to the city centre. I'm from Barcelona and sometimes go to that zone to see concerts, shopping, etc. and I think it's quite far if you want to visit all the most important places. In my opinion, the best thing would be to get a hotel near a Line 4 (yellow) underground station, for instance near Urquinaona or Jaume I, located in the very same city centre and very well connected to the Forum station (15-20 minutes). This is just a personal opinion, but getting a hotel close to the centre would allow you to visit lots of interesting places in a short period of time, since many of the most popular attractions in the city are in that area.

However, if you don't have much time and only plan to visit some specific monuments you can stay near Diagonal Mar. As I said, in 20 minutes you can get to the city centre taking the metro.

At this point I have no particular wishes re: sightseeing, as I have already done everything I wanted there in recent visits to Barcelona. But meeting up with friends would be much easier if I stayed in the city center area. :)

Now that you mention it, though, I may have to check out the concerts! I went to one a few years ago, which was in an absolutely gorgeous concert hall in the city, actually, we got tickets mainly so we could get inside the building, IIRC (and the concert turned out to be amazing, too, lol).
edit; it was the Palau de la Musica Catalana. Stunning!

Ok I didn't know you had already visited the city more than once....I would still prefer to stay closer to the city centre area, though ;-)

And, yes, Palau de la Música is absolutely gorgeous! Another incredible hall is the Gran Teatre del Liceu...a typical italian horeshoe-shaped theatre but very impressive, especially if you've never been to such a big opera house before. I go there quite often and it is not difficult to find cheap tickets, which cost like 10 euros. Additionally, last-minute tickets cost 1/2 of their original price if you're under 26. IMO this is better than paying 6 or 7 euros for just visiting the theatre in a tour.

I was wondering, actually, does Barcelona have special things for December, what with it being the weeks before Christmas? Like shops and streets being decorated?

Yes, shops and streets (especially in the city centre) are decorated during Christmas, more or less from the end of November until the second week of January. Last year (and the previous one if I'm not mistaken), an ice rink was placed in Plaça Catalunya during that period of time too. The area is usually very full of people, both tourists and local people shopping, but it's a nice place to have a walk the weeks before Christmas. Around the Cathedral you'll find a Christmas Market, too.

Thanks for the info. Just wondering when would those session tickets be available. Now it seems only season pack is being sold.

Oh why did you have to write this.....I'd just made up my mind that I wouldn't go because going would mean scrimping on so many things in order to save up for flights and such.....and now I'm back to "come hell or high water, I'm going!"!
