The logo is still for 2013, but the schedule is for 2014. Schedules are available for both the Senior B and the Challenge Cup. The competitors list is anticipated by Aug. 8th.

From a local perspective, this competition could be a different atmosphere than that last 2 competitions as the University of Utah does not have a football game currently scheduled for that weekend. It is listed as an open date and could still be filled. If there is no football game, the parking will be much easier, but the fun, celebratory atmosphere of the tailgate party will be missing.

It also appears that some of the key people involved in organizing the last two competitions may not be involved this year. It will be a challenge for the new organizers to make this event as successful as the last 2 years have been.

Thx, AlexRus. QUESTIONS:

Is Challenger status an all-or-nothing dichotomy? In other words, is it a case of the entire event having Challenger status or not ... with Challenger status requiring entry quotas to be met in all four disciplines?

OR will the Ladies at SLC still be eligible for the advantages of a Challenger event? Meaning the opportunities to:
- earn a higher level of World Standing points (compared to competitors at non-Challenger Senior Bs)
- meet the minimum TES requirements for ISU championships
- earn Challenger series points
(Too bad that the SLC entries in Men, Pairs, and Dance definitely will not. :eek:hwell:)

As an aside, last year for the Olympic season (before the Challenger series existed), the numbers of SLC entries were:
10 men
13 ladies
7 pairs
14 dance couples

Must be at least 12 ISU Members total. We see 13. So tthis reqirement is met.
Ladies (if all 15 will skate) will have all advantages of Challenge Series.
All others - ordinary SeniorB.

All the winners will be included in Substitutes list for GP.
But I believe they will not need it - all who pretend to 1st place already have GP Events.

Challenge skate competitors are overdue. Here's hoping they were waiting for Golden West to finish before making a final selection.

I'm copying Sylvia's information on the Challenge Skate here. Either thread will do, but I think I will be posting about both the challenge cup and the Classic here.

Entries were published on Sept. 2 (PDF linked from here): http://usfigureskating.org/event_details.asp?id=50414

I've copied out the roster and added the skaters' 2014 U.S. National (J=Junior, N=Novice, I=Intermediate) or Sectional (E=Eastern, M=Midwestern, P=Pacific Coast) placements in my blog: http://unseenskaters.wordpress.com/2...-skate-roster/

More about the event can be found on the official event site: http://www.usfigureskatingclassic.com/challenge-skate/

Thanks for the detailed information on Unseen Skaters.

The listings in the comprehensive schedule in AHB's post are in local (i.e., Mountain) time. :)

(FYI, the video schedules on IN's site are in Eastern time.)

Thanks for everything, AHB. Your plan makes sense to me. (And thx to Sylvia.)

I'm a bit confused about the practice schedule. There is none listed for the Novice Dance, Jr Dance, Jr Ladies, Jr Men and Jr Pairs. On the earlier tentative schedule they are placed on Friday after the Novice awards and before the Senior Events. IIRC there's a second rink, but does anyone have a more specific schedule or did I miss a page? Thanks... Also thanks to AHB for the very detailed schedule....

Its actually going to be impossible for me to watch any of this event :( is the ISU providing an alternative to broadcast this event or is this all going to be ice network?
