Currently, two US pairs are in the top 10 in the World Standings..even more shocking, neither qualified for the Olympics.

After the Men's SP, it's looking like Uno and Lee will qualify unless Lazukin has another massive FS score and comes back (which isn't entirely impossible). Sadovsky may make it after all, since he'd be last qualifier if Lazukin doesn't come back.

ETA:

After the Pairs SP, it would be Seguin/Bilodeau, Vigalova/Zakroev, Fedorova/Miroshkin, Gainetdinova/Alexeev, Beklemisheva/Bobrov, Liu/Johnson

After the SD, it would be Yanovskaya/Mozgov, Bent/MacKeen, Popova/Vlasenko, Loboda/Drozd, Edwards/Pang, and Morozova/Zhirnov .

So as it stands right now, M/Z would just barely make it since if they're 5th, they're out regardless of Y/M. Alternates depend on Parsons/Parsons' exact score since they'd be tied with Macnamara/Carpenter in points and placements.

P/P could win, but it'd require a massive PB jump from them and some costly errors from Yanovskaya/Mozgov. On the other hand, if M/Z drop then Parsons/Parsons or Macnamra/Carpenter could make it.

Looks like Liu/Johnson make it to the JGPF by the skin of their teeth with a likely 4th placement. The likely 3rd place team (UKE's Ogansien/Bardei) placed 5th in their other event, so Johnson/Liu is over them. That are in a tie-breaker situation with Russia's Gubanova/Sintsov, but they win due to total points (Liu/Johnson has 267.12 total points while Gubanova/Sintsov have 258.17)

The judges seem to love them though. Despite only doing throw 2F/2L and falling on her 2A, they're only a few points behind the 2nd Russian team, who did much harder content. Liu/Johnson do have awesome lifts/twist....just need to get the jumps! (The story of U.S. Pairs. BLEH)

Liu/Johnson drop down to 4th...do they still qualify or does someone else?

Final qualifications are

1) Seguin/Bilodeau (CAN) - 15 (CZE) + 15 (GER) = 30, 1st/1st, 333.50 total
2) Vigalova/Zakroev (RUS) - 15 (EST) + 15 (CRO) = 30, 1st/1st, 329.81 total
3) Fedorova/Miroshkin (RUS) - 13 (CZE) + 13 (GER) = 26
4) Gainetdinova/Alexeev (RUS) - 11 (CZE) + 13 (EST) = 24
5) Beklemisheva/Bobrov (RUS) - 9 (GER) + 13 (CRO) = 22
6) Liu/Johnson (USA) - 11 (GER) + 9 (CRO) = 20, 3rd/4th, 267.12 total
_____________________________________________

7) Gubanova/Sinitsov (RUS) - 9 (CZE) + 11 (EST) = 20, 3rd/4th, 258.78 total
8) Oganseian/Bardei (UKR) - 7 (EST) + 11 (CRO) = 18
9) Koga/Boudreau-Audet (JPN) - 9 (EST) + 5 (CRO) = 15

ETA: So, 4 of 6 are Russian and if S/B or L/J has to withdraw for some reason, 5/6 will be Russian and then Russia no longer needs to hold a Pairs event at Junior Nationals.

Thank GOD for pairs. Haha. The only time we will ever say that. A USA shutout from JGPF would have been quite depressing. Let's hope Karen can keep first place so we can have a lady in there too.

Liu/Johnson definitely looks good to win the U.S. junior title if this JGP series is any indication.

I think Andrei Lazukin just killed his chances. He needed another massive score a la Germany, but didn't get it.

Men's Final Qualification Standings:

1) Boyang Jin (CHN) - 15 (SLO) + 15 (JPN) = 30
2) Shoma Uno (JPN) - 13 (JPN) + 15 (CRO) = 28, 1st/2nd, 447.50 total
3) Alexander Petrov (RUS) - 13 (SLO) + 15 (EST) = 28, 1st/2nd, 424.70 total
4) June Hyoung Lee (KOR) - 15 (FRA) + 11 (CRO) = 26, 1st/3rd
5) Sota Yamamoto (JPN) - 13 (FRA) + 13 (EST) = 26, 2nd/2nd
6) Roman Sadovsky (CAN) - 15(CZE) + 9(GER) = 24, 1st/4th
________________________________________________

7) He Zhang (CHN) - 11 (EST) + 13(GER) = 24, 2nd/3rd, 389.54 total
8) Alexander Samarin (RUS) - 11(FRA) + 13(CZE) = 24 2nd/3rd, 367.85 total
9) Dmitri Aliev (RUS) - 11 (CZE) + 11 (EST) = 22

Sadovsky's win in CZE saved him. He would lose to Zhang on the score tiebreaker. Lazukin's even out of the alternates, with 18 total ranking him just behind Aliev.

Great news for Roman. He will skating with the big boys and a great experience for him.

My thought exactly! Did you know the USFSA held a camp for pairs after Champs Camp so the Pairs teams could improve". Its kind of sad.

Yes, the pairs camp included pairs who were not eligible for Champs Camp as well as those who were.

What is sad about USFS making an effort to give its pairs a boost?? It would be sadder for USFS to give up on the pairs discipline and assume that it is a lost cause.

Congratulations to Liu/Johnson.

I envision an Epic battle for the JPF gold between Boyang Jin and Shoma Uno. I wasn't even expecting much from Shoma this season, but he has surprised and delighted me by bringing out a Quad toe and trying to get his triple axel.

Shoma has senior like capabilities already. The powerful stroking and gliding a la Daisuke, the edges...the jumps are not the biggest, but they are clean rotation wise and he holds the landings for so long in a textbook position
