She is... amazing. I really loved watching her skate. Athletic but graceful. I just wish she actually enjoyed skating as opposed to viewing it as a "job". Going to PyeongChang 2018 for figure skating and hoping x10000 that I will magically be able to get her autograph O_____O A swish of her pen will do. Hope she continues skating in shows until 2018 and beyond :) Maybe she'll perform for the opening ceremony :yay:

During Yuna's career, she has to face probably the most pressure, the highest expectation, the worst training environment and the weakest political support if any. She has to be absolutely the best in order to win. To achieve that, she trains the hardest. even during her come-back season. she is spotted to be the last one who leave the rink and turn off the lights herself.

In this kinda situation, no matter how much you are passionate about figure skating, sometimes, you will have to treat it as a "job". Yuna is just very honest, and telling the truth.

Those nay-sayer (say that she does not like figure skating or she is not into it...:disapp:) please give her a break. if she does not like figure skating. Will she comeback after her OGM. Will she supports and trains young skaters herself, even now.

She could really just retired after Vancouver, and simply say that I like figure skating very much in interviews and everybody will just worship her and nobody will bash her for "hate figure skating".

watch Yuna's every performance include EX, those kinda dedication to her art in everyone of them, even when she is heavily injured(lark), or when she is emotional and physically exhausted (imagine at Sochi). She is always giving her all every time she is on ice.
That is true LOVE for figure skating.

Hmm, you took my post in an excessively negative light. It's obvious that I respect Kim Yuna as the figure skater she is. I simply stated something I read in in an interview with her. It IS disheartening to hear that a world-class figure skater did not completely enjoy her career, even though she was completely dedicated to it, because that places the skater in an emotionally exhausting position. I never doubted the pressure she had to face, and I appreciate her honesty, but that does not mean I have to support every stance she makes. You treated my comment like a criticism, and that it was not. No, I am not a naysayer (I simply reiterated what she said), nor do I think she hated figure skating. I just wished that she enjoyed figure skating as much as her fans enjoyed her performances. It would have allowed her to more completely enjoy her great career.

Like I said, I hope she continues skating, hopefully now in a better environment. I hope to see a lot of her in PyeongChang 2018.

This is a thread to celebrate Yuna, I sincerely wish nobody bring any kinda negativity here. The "Yuna does not enjoy figure skating" statement has been tagged in a few places where people wanna belittle Yuna. As a Yuna fan, this is the kinda comment that hurts the most. And it is NOT true, I sincerely hope people stop tagging that in the future. That's it.
And I assure you that we will continue to see a lot of Yuna both on and off ice, closely related to the sports of figure skating in the future, because that is exactly what she loves, "good at" and passionate about.

Yes. Her love for skating (the actual skating itself, not the "sport" or "competition" at least not post-2010) is just glowing through every stroke of her blade and every motion of her hand and facial expression. Her exhibitions make me tear up, she is so sweet and touching.

I don't see anything negative in what erasona said. Yuna's not an egomaniac--she achieved all the goals she set out for herself as an athlete so obviously competitive figure skating (in itself) became less fulfilling. The unromantic reality is that professional athletes are individualistic and self-serving as competitors. That Yuna had the humility to get over her Olympic glory and recognize the world as a much bigger place is respectable.

I agree with what you said, but does this have anything to do with "Yuna did not enjoy figure skating?"

My hope is that people please do not drag Yuna into this "hate figure skating" propaganda any more (in any form), it is getting old, and it is not true. Simple as that.

Well, I agree that Yuna didn't enjoy her career, but am further saying that there's nothing wrong with that. I don't think he/she was saying Yuna did not enjoy figure skating period.

Well, I think her "all podium" career is quite satisfying. And if erasona only meant Yuna did not like the difficulty of "competition", I have no problem with that. Everybody hates that. And y'all know what I hope for, and there is no point to drag around this issue anymore.

Okay, just to be factual: here is where I read (http://www.osservatoreromano.va/en/news/caresses-wind)

Are you happy when you’re skating?
It’s my job, I can’t say whether I am happy or not.

That was all I was referring to, and I don't think I deserve to be called out for saying "Yuna hated skating". Never did I say that and never would I have hoped that. I am not sure why my message was understood otherwise. I do think she achieved self-fulfillment early in her career, and continued more for Korean figure skating than herself, which is the noble Kim Yuna we all know. Medals didn't matter in the end. Like I said, I just wish she fully could have enjoyed her career like many of her fans have.

Yes, anyway, I hope to manage to get her autograph during PyeongChang, and I'm glad she'll be heavily involved. Still hoping to see her skate.

Because, some haters have used that as an excuse to belittle Yuna. And that kinda bash is the kinda that hurt me (Yuna fan) the most. It is way worse than simply say "dont like her style or whatever" So I am sensitive, and called you out and wanna make it clear here.
As a Yuna fan, I have read that interview, actually in multiple languages. It is what it is. "It’s my job, I can’t say whether I am happy or not."

I have to say that I love her answer so much, hit right on the note. Skating is her main job plus she is super good at so she is doing that, doesn't matter whether she is happy or not. That's just so realistic, applied for almost everyone else in the world.

Congrats to Yuna! I'm very happy for her and also not surprised by this considering she helped a lot with getting the bid.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter anymore if she enjoyed figure skating or not. She has graduated from competitive figure skating and is living a happy life she so deserves. She had to deal with so many things, physical and mental difficulties, so I'm not really surprised if she said she hated figure skating or that she only thought of it as a job. Her passion and dedication is truly inspiring. Not to mention, the result of her hard work is something most skaters can only dream of. Her feelings towards whatever thing she does is her business.

On another note, she looks like a porcelain doll. So flawless and beautiful. :)

I don't see how saying, "I only wish Yuna had enjoyed her career (job) as much as we loved watching her" is bashing. Of course, none of us know what she really feels, but it is a reasonable conclusion to make considering what her actions and words. Seems to me like Erasona is wishing Yuna well.

And if erasona only meant Yuna did not like the difficulty of "competition", I have no problem with that. Everybody hates that.
But... I don't think that's true? Michelle Kwan, for instance, always came across as liking competition more than she liked the skating itself. After retirement, she left figure skating almost entirely, and didn't seem particularly interested in shows. Of course, Yuna isn't diminished because she doesn't like competition... Just pointing out it's not universal.
