I wonder who got it worse, Han or Hanyuu? From videos and photos, it seems like Hanyuu (he did pass out). But man was Han Yan out of it too... I hope both of them are well!

The slow-mo showed Yan and Hanyu collided face to face. There were no blades involved. They tried to avoid in that mini-second but couldn't do anything. Prayers to both. They are very brave boys.

Han Yan has updated his Weibo http://www.weibo.com/u/1991083414

Again, someone can correct me but rough translation:

Thank you so much for the update.

*He used an expletive here; seems pissed at the fans pointing fingers at either him or Yuzu.

I'm not a fan of swearing, and I don't do it myself. But, I don't blame him at all.

Like, this forum is normally quite civilised, but some of the comments in the Men's thread, even when we didn't know if they guys were alright, were unbelieveable. So, I dread to think what the fanatical Hanyu fans were saying elsewhere.

Thank you for starting another thread for a more general discusssion about the incident, satine94. I agree that this thread should be kept clear for health updates.

May I suggest that you report your original post in the thread, and explain what you want done in the feedback box. That way, the moderators might get onto it quicker than if you don't report it. Put it like this, I suspect that this forum is going to go into overload over the next 24 hours or so!

I just watched the men's medal ceremony they made an announcement about Yuzi but I could not understand it.
Warm up collisions can be very serious and I feel so bad for them, wishing both skaters a speedy recovery.

Someone more capable of translating should check this, but it seems the coach thought Han Yan was looking better and therefore allowed him back onto the ice. He later had to be escorted off the rink. Both him and Hanyu were carted off to a hospital and apparently require brain(?) examination.

I won't translate the whole article especially about the event we have seen, which is a bit glorified.

Behind the scene: Han insisted on leaving the ice on his own but collapsed on the way to the room for resting and was carried on a stretcher. With temporary unconsciousness, his sight was affected. His coach had him take off his skates and wanted to call off his competition. But Han's first words after regaining consciousness were, "The competition?" With insistent desire, eventually Han completed his competition as did Hanyu.

------------

Yan Han walked off the competition ice on his own but he did not accept any interview but, with support, returned to the room for resting. The medical personnel showed up with the stretcher but they waited for Hanyu to finish his free skate. Hanyu too did not accept any interview and was absent from the press conference. He was carried out on a stretcher as well.

Han's coach reported that his condition has improved while Hanyu's coach Orser indicated that he was unconscious temporarily but has recovered. Barring any unforeseen happening, they will return to Japan tomorrow.

As of now, both skaters are undergoing further examination in the hospital. Brain examination has to be performed as they both lost consciousness at the time. The actual situation will only be known after the examination results are revealed.

coping from Yuzuru other forum by user tiarakitten

I've just watched the news on Fuji Broadcasting TV saying that Yuzu's got 7 stitches but will enter the NHK cup.

Thanks for the updates everyone! Glad to hear that they are doing better (and they had prompt medical attention after their skates) For now I hope no further news is good news and that they will have a speedy recovery!!!

With concussion and loss of consciousness, they both need to be under observation in days to come regardless of brain examination results and their immediate condition.

I don't understand why the hospital released Yan so quickly? He should stay there overnight at least!

I think that he was checked and they decided there was no need to make him stay overnight. We are not doctors, they know what's good for him.

I deduced that doctors have determined there are no immediate risks to Han. I am sure he is being cared for in his room.

Han Yan: The bleeding on the chin has stopped, and I’ve already had an X-Ray done. There are some issues with my jaw and chest muscles, but I am completely conscious now, so please don’t worry anymore about me! About that accident, we were both facing each other with our backs and going at very high speeds. We couldn’t see one another, and when we turned around, it was too late to dodge. As a result, we collided into each other. Please do not make any unprofessional remarks to try and get laughs or ignorant ***** comments. I believe that both of us did not wish for an event like this to happen. I wish for a speedy recovery for us two and that we can continue competing in the events to come. Thank you for everyone’s concern

Thank go he is fine!

the collision in real time
it looks so scary and it happened so fast

Hanyu had blood coming from his mouth and chin wound and it looks like he was in shock after the impact.
He looked so confused after he got up how the hell they allowed him to compete
