At Alberta NWT Nunavut Sectionals, the second place finisher Dustin Sherriff-Clayton is from the Central Ontario Section. Does he qualify for Challenge based on this result? Does Stuart Ure, the fifth place finisher, fail to qualify because he only finished fifth, or does he qualify because he is the fourth place finishet actually from AB/NT/NU?

Senior Men
1 Keegan Messing 63.78 123.32 187.10 AB/NT/NU Sherwood Park FSC
2 Dustin Sherriff-Clayton 46.29 87.86 134.15 CO Georgina SC
3 Christopher Mostert 42.86 89.39 132.25 AB/NT/NU Ice Palace FSC

5 Stuart Ure 33.74 79.24 112.98 Derrick FSC

Senior Ladies brings the same question; the fourth place finisher is from New Brunswick.

What you see are examples of guest skating which is quite common in Canada.

If there are 4 or less entries of non-byed skaters in a section ( 8 or less in Quebec ) , those skaters do not have to show up at their own sectionals ( because the competition would not eliminate anybody ). In these cases , these skaters have an option of showing up as a guest skater in another section.

In both cases the fifth placed skater in both competitions would make the challenge ( provided they had a free skate TES in any competition from October 20,2012 that made the standard ).

The guest skaters must also meet the standard as well.

The TES standard is listed here.

Thank you, nadstar, If I am unstanding correctly then the required TES is 30 in the FS for senior Men and 27 for senior women, from the link you shared.

So all 5 men qualified then, as all had more than TES of 30. Four compete for AB/NT/NU and one for CO at Challenge.

In the ladies, Kayla Harrison did not achieve tbe qualifying TES here, and either can't compete at Challenge, or must get or have already gotten the score in another competition okayed for qualification?
