Woah, surprised to see the Parsons in first!

Sad for the Beckers. But couldn't all 5 pairs go under a fill up rule since there's only 3 pairs at Midwestern sectionals? Or does that rule not apply?

Oh I see Pacific Coast has 5 too. Ah well. It's too bad one or thr pairs couldn't go to Midwestern sections or that we couldn't get the Parsons or McNamara/Carpenter to JGPF.

There may be a fill rule?

McNamara & Carpenter looked to be going through a growth spurt this year. I think it showed on the JGP this year.

From the protocols, it looks like Parsons really nailed the Samba and got level 3 on the step- very good tech, the Parsons have.

Lorraine and Quinn had lower levels on the samba and not touching step than Parsons.

Madison Vinci and Jessica Hu are only other Senior ladies I know, other than Emily McNally who is from my little area.

Eastern section does not have a lot of good senior ladies right now. Christina Gao and Sammi Cesario...but they have byes to Nationals.

I don't know if I've ever seen them use the fill rule on something like Junior Dance (maybe because there's never really been a need) but they might just do that, especially since Efimova/Macmillan withdrew from Pacific Coasts, leaving only 13 Junior Dance teams competing at any sectionals. If only one team gets left out, that's incredibly unfortunate (even though I know it's the rules)

I agree. I missed most of Pacs SD, and only saw Lewis & Bye. If they were the best of the bunch, the fourth place team there has to be worse than the fifth place at Easterns. They were not very impressive. Carreira & Ponomarenko must have had serious errors to have finished third to that.

Midwesterns Junior Dance has looked less than impressive. All the teams here scored higher than the 3rd place team at Mids and the 4th place team at PC.

The fifth place team does not qualify to Nationals.

According to Sylvia, who's usually a pretty accurate source: "I'm happy to hear that all 5 JR pairs from both Easterns & Mids will advance to U.S. Nationals under the Fill-Up rule! :) #2015Sectionals"

https://twitter.com/SylviaUnseen/status/535628598632538112

Since besides the 5 in each Easterns and Mids, there's only Liu/Johnson with their JGP Finals bye and two Pacific Coasts teams that elected not to compete.

Too bad the rule will likely not apply to Junior Dance because technically there are at least 4 teams competing in each Section

And Gropman/Somerville just fell behind Becker/Becker by only 0.98 wow. It looks like Gropman/Somerville will miss out on Nationals, boo. I know they're young (13/14) but still, sometimes the qualifying structure just sucks. Especially when teams in other sections get in by virtue of having a less competitive section (the first team to complete their FD at Midwesterns scored almost a full 10 points total (SD+FD) less than Gropman/Somerville)

Great scores for McNamera/Carpenter and the Parsons. They look good to go 1 & 2 at Nationals.

Slightly OT, but surprised to see how poorly Moore and Klaber fared over at Midwesterns. They didn't even win sectionals. Their scores are below not only the top 2 here and Pogrenbinsky/Benoit at Mids, but Biecher/Dodge at Easterns, and the top 3 at Pacific (Lewis/Bye, Day/Lehey, Carreria/Pomerenko)

Interestingly, Moore/Klaber didn't score that far off their highest international total (129+) while McNamara/Carpenter blasted by theirs (139+) by almost 13 points.
