Ok, so I may be channeling Mrs P a little bit, but I thought it might be interesting to see how the total scores of the GP finalists compared to their standing by placement. I've listed them in order of top score, and in brackets I've indicated their standing by placement)

Men
1. Javier Fernandez 509.88 (2)
2. Tatsuki Machida 506.83 (3)
3. Takahito Mura 490.25 (4)
4. Sergei Voronov 488.65 (5)
5. Maxim Kovtun 486.69 (1)
6. Yuzuru Hanyu 467.35 (6)

With the exception of Kovtun, who had the second lowest score among qualifiers, the men's standings wouldn't change much. Also, for the most part, the "right" men made it to the final. The one exception is that if things were done by score, Jason Brow who was in 7th place would have bumped Hanyu because his total score was 469.73 (vs. 467.35)

Women
1. Elena Radionova 399.39 (1)
2. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva 386.22 (2)
3. Gold 370.54 (4)
4. Pogorilaya 365.24 (3)
5. Ashley Wagner 363.74 (6)
6. Julia Lipnitskaya 358.75 (5)

Again, the standings are similar, but both Americans would have moved up a spot and swapped places with the Russian who qualified ahead of them. Also, most of the women would have also qualified based on score, with the exception of Julia, who would have been bumped by Satoko Miyahara with a score of 360.77 - Satoko is the second alternate, so she would have moved up two spots based on score.

Pairs
1. Stolbova/Klimov 421.78 (1)
2. Duhamel/Radford 410.52 (2)
3. Kavaguti/Smirnov 392.76 (3)
4. Sui/Han 385.32 (5)
5. Peng/Zhang 376.48 (4)
6. Yu/Jin 355.33 (6)

These mirror the actual standings almost perfectly. The only difference is that Sui/Han would have moved up one spot and swapped places with Peng/Zhang. Also, none of the alternates would move up. The highest score among alternates was 349.23 for Tarasova/Morozov who are first alternates.

Dance
1. Chock/Bates 345.31 (1)
2. Weaver/Poje 340.52 (2)
3. Papadakis/Cizeron 326.78 (3)
4. Shibutani/Shibutani 317.69 (4)
5. Gilles/Poirier 310.18 (5)
6. Ilinykh/Zhiganshin 305.13 (6)

These would have remained unchanged, and none of the alternates would have moved up. The highest score among alternates was Hubbell/Donohue (who are second alternates) with a score of 300.34.

One of the reasons the ice dance standings were unchanged is because total score was used already as the tie-breaker for a three-way tie at 30 points and again a two-way tie at 26 points. All other disciplines had only one two-way tie, so total scores didn't factor into the standings nearly as much.

Feel free to consider these in your GPF predictions :)

Oh, and I don't understand why some people say Kovtun is inconsistent. He scored 243.34 at CoC and 243.35 at TEB. How much more consistent can you get?:jaw::laugh2:

Wow. That's close. And Even more imspressive that K/S scored that high without home inflation at SA.
But I think S/K will win GPF, they're consistent as hell.
