You know what I don't like about hockey? Good play is not rewarded. I just watched the Red Wings get eliminated form the playoffs, 1-0 in overtime. Both teams had lots of excellent offensive plays, lots of shots on goal, several quality scoring chances -- nothing.
The only play that ever works in playoff hockey (as opposed to the regular season, where they are just goofing off, having fights and stuff), is the one where they crowd everyone around the net, shoot the puck in, and hope to get a lucky bounce off someone's skate.
No matter how well or how poorly you play, it seems like it doesn't matter at all. You get an opportunistic ricochet, or the other guys do -- end of game. Sort of like soccer.
Oh well. Maybe I would feel differently if the Red Wings had won one to nothing.
