I kinda want to predict Alaine Chartrand to get a medal. Though it's theoretically not going to happen. However she surprised us and won bronze at the CoR.

I'm seriously excited how everyone is going to do at the 4CC!

Guess you and me are the only ones that pick Chartrand as a medalist. She definitely has potential. If she lands all her jumps cleanly the TES might be huge. And she even beat Pogo in the SP at the CoR. Unexpected but cool.

Though it's going to be a tough crowd out there in the ladies with the Americans and Japanese.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to finish watching American Championships (I’ve got as far as the end of Group 1 in the Ladies FS), and I haven’t watched any of the Canadian Championships. And I don’t like knowing the results before seeing the skating. I had been planning on spending the past week catching up before making my 4 Continents predictions, but the pleasant surprise of the Universiade being streamed put paid to that!

So, I am going into this more than a bit blind when it comes to the most recent form of the skaters from those countries.

Is it just me, or is this a stronger field than we normally have at 4 Continents?

Like, in the Ladies, there are probably 5 that have a realistic chance of getting onto the podium, and 12 that could get into the Top 6!

Obviously, Gracie should win it unless something does dramatically wrong. But, who to put on the podium with her?! Polina, Sakoto, Zijun and Rika all have a good claim for a step, and possibly So Young and Samantha too!

Given that it is so open, I only made a few minor deviations from the PB order. Firstly, to get my Top 5, I moved each of the top 2 Japanese girls up one place. The next 6 girls in the list were in pairs, and what I did was to swap the skaters in each pair around. I would have liked to have moved Gabi up a bit further and have her as the first Canadian, but I decided against it. At the end of the day, neither of them is going to be scored anyway!

For the rest, I just went by PB. But, although her PB is after the Top 15 cut-off, can I just take this opportunity to say that it is so good to see Melissa Bulanhagui back. I hope she does very well, just to prove a point to her Federation! I still say they should never have banned her! (if you don’t know what I am referring to, see this thread).

In the Men, the handicap from not knowing the results from Americans and Canadians did not really come into play, as I was always planning on having a Top 6 consisting of the 3 Japanese guys, Yan Han, Denis Ten and Jason Brown.

I knew which three I wanted on the podium. But I wasn’t sure about what order to put the other 3 guys. The order I was thinking about would have the guy with both the highest PB and highest World Ranking down in 6th! And then I started having thoughts about Adam Rippon and his quad, and that I should maybe put him as my alternate.

In the end, I decided to stick with my original thoughts. For the rest of my Top 15, I stuck with the PB order, as there were too many Canadians (as well as the remaining American) whose results from Nationals I didn’t want to find out!

Pairs is probably the hardest, because they are all capable of getting into the Top 6. It may be a small field, but it is a quality field. And it is going to be some competition! I don’t care if Duhamel / Radford are having the best season of their lives. For me, Pang / Tong are the favourites.

I knew exactly the order I was going to put my Top 5. And I knew I was going to have the 3 American couples next. The only problem I had was which way round to put them. They are all so well matched – only 4 points cover them in terms of their international PB’s! So, I decided to just take the easy way out and copy the order I put them in when doing my American Championships predictions!

When it came to Dance, I started off by looking up PB’s and World Standings as usual, and found that in both the Top 6 were actually in the order I wanted! Below that, I just continued to stick to the PB order. Uzurova/Ali impressed me at the Universiade last week, and I would have liked to have moved them up. But, their PB is a full 17 points below the best achieved by the 2 couples ahead of them. And all 3 set their PB’s last season. So, it wasn’t realistic to expect the Kazakhs to jump them.

After making out these predictions and seeing the quality of the fields, I am actually looking forward to Four Continents more than I usually do. So it’s a real pity that Eurosport are not showing much.

From 1. to 4. each can win this competition plus Murakami, which I put in 9. (it's a shame!). For some time I was thinking, why not put those 5, which might win, in front - but then there is Adam. I have a good feeling about him. In the end it will be all about nerves, from on the day and of course, what the judges may see or might not. I won't watch - nerves

THIS IS YOUR FIVE AND A HALF HOUR WARNING.

You have just 5 hours 30 minutes left until the target time to get your predictions in, i.e. until 10:30 KST (02:30 CET / 01:30 GMT)

And for our American friends, that is 20:30 EST.

By the way, I have replaced the entry lists for the Men's and Pairs categories with their SP starting orders in the original post in this thread.
