Nothing about ethnicity - it WAS far too low a score for BEKLEMISHEVA / BOBROV!

By the way, am I going mad, or was there somebody shouting cues to the Canadians on the ice after them? I noticed it during the side by sides towards the end of the routine. A male voice would shout, and Orr and Simpson would change position immediately.

Is this allowed?

It was probably Simpson himself. The skaters often shout cues to each other about when to change position.

You'll probably hear Julianne shout their cues in a minute.

I hope that Yu/Jin will win this. Talking about interpretation it was the league of their own. Beautiful skating.

I really like the Canadian duo; their performance brings me a joy. Canadian pairs have a bright future due to them. :)

So I realize this is like Yu/Jin's 4th appearance in junior worlds. Whew. Technically they only had 3 results in the book because they were not supposed to be at 2010 junior worlds. (China only had two pairs, not three, that year).

Next year, seniors!

Ah, that would explain a lot. I've often wondered if there was any other way that skaters knew when to do things apart from taking cues from the music. Or how they could communicate things to each other. For example, if one of them wants to change a planned element during the routine.

I've never actually heard any shouting before, so Simpson must be doing it louder than other skaters!

And what are you trying to say about Mlle. Seguin?

Wow, close 2nd for Seguin/Bilodeau! Again, pairs is giving Team Canada a better day in the office. :)

I think there is no shouting when they want to change a planned element. But shouting during the solo spins in the pair skating is pretty usual. Sometimes you can hear it sometimes not. It also depends on the video or the stream. On some streams it is loud, you can hear what the people talk about in the video while othertimes we hear just music.

Just that she's very elegantly loud with her cues

I'm not sure about that yet. I just saw a big bandage on her nose.

I noticed during the routine that she had one of those breathing strips on her nose, but didn't think any more of it.

But, there's definitely something more serious than just breathing difficulties, seeing the bloodied hankie she had when getting the results.

Hope the nose sorts itself out before the FS.

Oooh! That's fancy!

Puts my plain wee tables to shame... :slink:

I recall Meagan Duhamel once mentioned she was concerned Eric would not hear her cues due to the crowd cheering at Nationals. Always a risk under those conditions. On TV, the audio technician must be filtering out much of the calls. I know the technicians tape microphones to the inside of the boards around the rink, which is how you hear the sound of the skate blades across the ice via your TV. The audio technician constantly manipulate slide controls on his panel as the skaters move around the rink. Sliding some controls up, while others are simultaneously moved down.
