Anna Sergeyevna OVCHAROVA (Russian: Анна Серге́евна ОВЧАРОВА) is a Ladies Singles skater who represented Switzerland. She was born on 16[SUP]th[/SUP] March 1996 in Moscow, Russia.
Anna had a successful Junior career representing Russia, finishing 5[SUP]th[/SUP] in both the Junior GP Final and Junior Worlds in 2010. But then she had problems with her leg which forced her to sit out the 2010/11 season.
She made her comeback in the 2011/12 season. Shortly afterwards, her brother got a place at a private school in Switzerland. After a period of attempting to split their lives between the 2 countries, the family eventually all moved to Switzerland.
Anna started working with Peter Grueter in Geneva, and started to skate for Switzerland.
After finishing second in the Swiss Championships in her first attempt in the 2012/13 season, she won it the following year. This earned Anna her first appearance at Senior Worlds in 2014, where she quickly became a fan favourite!
In the 2014/15 season, Anna finally made her Senior Grand Prix debut, but did not do as well as her fans hoped. She also lost her title of Swiss Champion to an American-born girl, who was then selected to represent Switzerland at Europeans and Worlds.
Towards the end of the season, Anna revealed that she was retiring from skating and moving back to Russia. (Her family had already moved back a few months earlier).
