I would not say that Yana was awful. Actually, these videos gave me such a ton of respect for her. She clearly did not know how to skate before she married Plushy, but she has obviously decided to do so because it's something he loves so much, and it's very brave of her to go on national television to skate alongside an Olympic champion.
BTW, Max was the liftee (not lifter) in this balance/dance lift with Piper Gilles (at rehearsal for a different show):
