My final.summer project was to organize everything GS published about different National Championships, including permalinking all the results and cataloging all the videos

These listings are arranged alphabetically, in the order listed in the ISU communcation reporting National Championships results.

http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...ionships-Reported-to-the-ISU-Results-Videos-I

This post reindexes by month in which the events occurred:
http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...d-to-the-ISU&p=1215181&viewfull=1#post1215181

This post lists championships that were not reported to the ISU, but which occurred in 2014-15:
http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...d-to-the-ISU&p=1210099&viewfull=1#post1210099

And federations that have no sign of any championships that I could find:
http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...d-to-the-ISU&p=1215145&viewfull=1#post1215145

There are some goodies in here:

All the videos which were listed in our original threads from Japanese Nationals were taken down by youtube, but I found they were relisted on dailymotion. Links are provided!

Also there are many new videos of the Championships of Spain.

And there are some perplexing questions

When did Misha Ge become Uzbek champion again in 2014-15.

When and where were Armenian championships held?

But most puzzling, why isn't Poland listed as having held a Championship, when it is one of the four nations who determine their champions at Four Nations Cup, and the other three nations are listed?

So have a look, and tell me about any additions, corrections or fits of nostalgia you have ;)

What an admirable project! :points:

I thought the Summer Fan Fest Fete was an brilliant idea, but this just surpasses it completely!

As an administrator of this forum, you have certain duties. But what you have done this summer has gone way above and beyond those duties!

So, thank you!!! :cheer:

And thank you for the name check with regards the Cyprus Championships. ;)

I have to admit, I haven't had a chance to go through the whole thing. But, it is a good sign that the only two things I have spotted that might need attention are just typing errors!

BOSNIA & HERZOGOVINA

I believebthat the Sarajevo Open functions as the Bosnia and Herzogovina Championships as well.

There is a rogue "b" instead of a space in between "believe" and "that".

IRELAND

Ice Skating Association of Ireland
2015 National Championships (14 March 2015, Odyssey Arena)

Ladies
1. Clara Porters

It's Clara Peters, not "Porters".

Incidentally, this will probably be Clara's last time as Irish Ladies Champion. After dominating the Ladies category at the Irish Championships since their inception, Clara is currently on Ice Partner Search looking to switch to Pairs.

With Jenna McCorkell retired, and Clara Peters switching to Pairs, it really is the end of an era for Ladies skating on this island.

Fixed.

BTW did you catch the section on Lithuania?

Last season we heard results from those who had reason to know, but when I spent some time looking into it, I found a competition with a nice website, Kaunas Ice Christmas Cup.
http://www.kaunasice.lt/

Ladies
1. Inga Janulevičiūtė
2. Deimantė Kizalaitė
3. Elžbieta Kropa
4. Kamilė Linauskaitė
5. Viltė Radzvilavičiūtė

Men
1. Laurynas Vonžodas
2. Artūras Ganžėla
3. Edvinas Apitionok

Pairs
1. Goda Butkutė/Nikita Ermolaev

Ice Dance
1. Taylor Tran/Saulius Ambrulevičius

GS Thread
Lithuania has no website, but we do have a limited number of results
http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?53548-2015-Lithuanian-Nationals
and this link to a newspaper article
http://www.lrytas.lt/sportas/startai/lietuvos-dailiojo-ciuozimo-cempione-tapo-inga-januleviciute.htm
about Kaunas Ice Christmas Cup Dec. 14, 2014 (an open championship that may or may not be used to figure out
who the champions are.

Permalinked Kaunas Ice Christmas Cup results
http://web.archive.org/web/20150903162057/http://www.kaunasice.lt/1415/christmas/index.htm

http://www.sweetice.lt/lt/deimante-kizalaite

Note this girl's (2. Deimantė Kizalaitė) bio has Kaunas Ice Christmas Cup results entered twice, once as Lithuanian championship marks, and once as Ice Christmas marks, and claims herself as the Lithuanian Junior champion

It is quite common for relatively small federations to hold or to participate in an Open competition and to use results to determine their own champions, and it complicates figuring out how they determine their champions.

Additionally, if their best skater is training or competing abroad, that skater is likely to be crowned "champion" for the purpose of the ISU file, as was Inga Janulevičiūtė. Sometimes they are just given a "no contest" bye.

I still would like more info on Lithuania.

And Uzbekistan.

And Armenia.

Maybe Clara will stay for a while in singles if her search for a pairs partner is fruitless? Have you ever been to an Irish championships CaroLiza fan? Are there many competitors or is it worth going to? I'd consider the trip to Belfast if someone recommended the event...

I am secretly hoping the same for Clara. Because, it would be a real shame if she was left completely on the sidelines just because of the lack of fellas available.

I'm afraid I haven't been to any figure skating competitions. I had been hoping to get to the Trophée Éric Bompard this year, but it didn't work out! (Direct flights from here to Bordeaux only run from May to September, and it was far too complicated trying to work out connecting flights on the "orange airline's" website).

As I've said yourself in other threads, figure skating is an obscure sport here, and it is very rare to hear any news. Like, the first I heard about last season's Irish Championships was on here, a forum based in America, after they had happened!

But, at least now I know where to go to get news about skating in Ireland - http://isai.ie/ :cheer:

By the way, I just went to the site, and saw that the reigning Junior Ladies Champion, Ciara Hoey from Dundalk, is competing in this weekend's Junior GP in Austria! (The Golden Skate subforum for the Cup Of Austria is here)

Oh, I nearly forgot – here is the thread on Golden Skate about last year's Irish Championships.

The third paragraph of my comment in that thread should answer your question about the number of competitors...

You know, just as another sign of how hard it is to hear news on this island, I don't even know if there are still Northern Ireland Championships held. I haven't heard anything about them since the days when Jenna was coming through the age ranks!

If they are still being held, it would be interesting to know what the number of entries is like. Because, now that Jenna is retired, the only skater from here that I know is competing is Sam McAllister (i.e. Margaret O'Neill's son). But, he is living in England, so I don't know if he ever comes home to skate.

The sooner Figure Skating gets more media coverage in the whole of this island the better! But, that will probably only happen when we get somebody that does exceptionally well on the international stage.

So, let's hope that some of the young skaters coming through will do that! ;)

:cheer: ALL THE BEST IN AUSTRIA, CIARA!!! :cheer:
