Ivan Bariev Righini

Ivan Righini was born as Ivan Vadimovich Bariev on 16 April 1991, in Moscow, Russia (Russian name: Иван Вадимович Бариев). Righini is a figure skater who currently represents Italy. Righini is the 2014 Bavarian Open champion and a three-time Italian national champion. Earlier in his career, he competed for Russia as Ivan Bariev. When he began to compete for Italy, he decided to skate under his mother's maiden name.



I'm very surprised that there wasn't a thread for Ivan already, as he's a 3-time Italian champion & quite a popular show skater...so I decided to do it. (But I'm afraid I'm very much a slacker when it comes to filling in all of the bio stuff, so if anyone else would like to contribute, please feel free).

Congratulations to Ivan on his 2 great programs, 6th place finish and new ISU personal best at Euros!

I came across this interview by accident...it's for a Romani news site, so he talks quite a bit about his Romani heritage. Pretty interesting.

Wow! for his age he looks really manly and mature. I would have guessed early thirties. I checked out his SP for 2016 Europeans. Great presentation. I can see his theatrical training.

Thank you for starting this thread, silverfoxes. I was surprised too when I realised that he didn't have a Fan Fest.

And I too thought he was older, Babbette1. But, that was because he has been around for so long! (These Russians do start young, don't they?!)

Just a thing people should be aware of. When looking up results and things, you have to make sure to look up both of his names. Because although some places have them all under the same name, other places have them separated into Russian name and Italian name.
