I loved Ilia's skating when I first watched him skate the LP at Euro 95, which he won at age 17 (he blew the SP at worlds and ended up very low). His artistry was evident even then. He is an underrated skater, but I think it is because he did not stay amateur very long, and his first few years as a pro he was experimenting too much, and making too many mistakes. He is awesome now. His technical program skated to Grieg's piano concerto in A minor was absolutely fabulous. He is a much better skater now than when he won the Olympic gold, but that too was an amazing performance.
