 :p  There's this new "Got Milk" commercial that is totally revolting. A woman is looking for milk, and her skeleton leaves her body melted on the floor while it goes to the refrigerator to get some milk. We saw it last night, and RG Jr. was TOTALLY grossed out -- and I was upset that such a disgusting commercial made it to TV--it was as awful as the kind of horror movie I would not allow her to see. I couldn't even look at my milk carton today.

Oh my gosh, FINALLY a place where I can vent about my annoyance with this one commercial that I somehow end up seeing every night like six times (and I am not even watching that much TV this summer!). Its the one from the Aluminum Foundation or something that has the annoying song...."Don't shake the can...don't shake it, please don't shake it....don't shake the can now, oh no" (and yes its really sad that I know that much of that song, LOL) and it has all these weird random people dancing around with cans of pop and juice. I watch this commercial and am like, what the heck is this?!?! And I STILL don't have a CLUE what in the world this commercial is for!! Why is this on TV?! If anyone can enlighten me on the purpose of this commercial, I would LOVE to know why this annoying commercial is allowed to be on TV and especially, how we can make it go away, LOL  :sheesh:

Ditto to the annoyances with the Viagra type commercials and the feminine product commercials but hey, at least we know what those are for, LOL

There's a commercial for a drug advertised to treat rheumatoid arthritis where the list of side effects is horrifying (TB, lymphoma, death). Then I saw a commercial for the same drug being used for psoriasis. Now, I could understand that a person suffering with intolerable pain and crippling from arthritis might want to try that drug and risk lethal side effects. But PSORIASIS?

I think the government has enforced the drug companies to list the side effects and thank goodness they have. Would you like it if you didn't know the side effects? Otherwise, more people would be trying to get their Dr's to give them prescriptions for medications that may even kill them. I had to laugh when I started hearing all the side effects. Kind of like one over on the drug companies. Are any of you familiar with the author Arthur Hailey? He fictionalizes stories about different types of companies and lives the part before he writes. He wrote one about the drug companies and his books are really enlightening. I will have to look up the name of that book. Most of them are really a little too immoral for me but I read them anyway for the enlightenment.

I would like to know how a drug for arthritis could also be used for psoriasis. I have it inside my ears (plus psoriatic arthritis) and it can be downright miserable. Not that I would take it, just interesting. Of course, when I'm really achy and someone says it's better than the alternative, I tell them, there are days you disagree with that. So, even though you don't want to hear about those side effects, be glad they're telling them.

Also the DQ commercial with the hand beater and the guy's tounge, Ik gross.
Donna, last night was the first time I saw this commercial and was in utter disgust. The place where I work deals with people with disabilities and some of our people talk the way the guy does---------NOT FUNNY!!!!

Where do these businesses get off showing a commercial like that?

Okay, the egg beater one is pretty bad....

But the WORST, and I can't believe I forgot this one because it's totally disgustinng, but perhaps I just blocked it out of my mind, is the one for a toenail fungus cream, and it shows the horrible little creatures jumping under a diseased toenail. I can't even WATCH this anymore, I have to avert my eyes, and it always on during the evening news. Bleah!

Laura :)

PS My final for my 9th graders last year was for them to create either a commercial or an informercial. One group parodied the drug ads...the list of side effects went on for three minutes. It was hilarious!

Both psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis are autoimmune diseases, so a drug that treats one may also have an effect on some symptoms of the other.

The title of the book is Strong Medicine. Did you know that once you choose what book you want you can go to www.anybookstore.com and they will give you a list of the prices, etc. of the book you want. Just tried it and it went to AllBookstore. That way you can get the best price and they tell you the tax and the shipping cost.

Thanks Bronxgirl. I know about the autoimmune thing. Lots of others too. I have the majority of them but thank goodness not Lupus!

I usually hate the FHP commercials but I do smile when the cranky teacher says "I hope you brought enough for the entire class" and the girl replies "Enough for the girls".

ITA with your thoughts about drug commercials. I don't know why, but on Canadian tv we never see them. We just switched to high definition tv. Now most of our channels come out of Detroit and there are so many drug commercials. I CAN'T STAND IT!! I can't see it being a good thing to advertise drugs. Its just seems odd. I trust my doctor can decide which medications I should be taking.

Both my mom and I hated the Clairol commercials. You know the suggestive ones - kind of like the famous scene from "When Harry met Sally." My mom wrote a letter, but I think it fell on deaf ears. I have not seen these annoying commercials in awhile, so maybe they have ran the gammet.

The first time I saw that I thought why would they have something that unappealing advertise their restaurant. But it kind of grew on me.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but I just can't stand the Pepto Bismol commercials they have now.

The Herbal Essence commercials are really annoying too. I don't like suggestive commercials either.

I hate all the ads for the Viagra and other drugs to spice up your sex life. Now, of course, they advertise drugs meant for women. The one that really makes me gag is the one with a character named Bob and they talk about "male enhancement". I can't remember what drug they are advertising, as I switch the channel as soon as it comes on. It used to play on the Court TV channel all evening long, and now I see it on WB.

For GrGranny, Mpal and everyone else who commented on the Quiznos Rats, here is the original inspiration for that campaign.

I agree with Pookie. At first I thought, what are they saying about their restaurant, if they use these scuffy mutant creatures to advertise it? But it worked. I was driving by one the other day, and I stopped in for a sandwich, just to see what it was all about.

Review: Ordinary. Not as good as Subway. Plus, you call that a pepper bar?Only four different items, and two of them were pickles.

My pet peeve is commercials that, when they are over, I don't know what product was being advertised. (This happens more and more frequently as I get older, LOL.)

All those loud truck and car commercials. You're sitting there listening to Larry King at a conversational level, when they BLAST you across the room!

I also hate that new Pepto song and dance. Tacky.

I think the most obnoxious commercials are the ones that aren't even full length commercials anymore. The tv stations are trying to advertise to people with Tivo (?) and can skip commercials so they put some big obnoxious loud icon in the bottom corner of the screen when the program comes back on.

I don't know how many times I have been annoyed enough to email ESPN and FX. Once I got irritated enough to email TBS.

There are just too many to list and the list is growing.

I hate-

All medicinal commercials that ask you to ask your doctor to prescribe a certain drug.

All the FHP commercials

Definitely all the commercials to improve your sex life

Lately all the political commercials. The more I hear these guys, the less I trust them.

Last year's Bye bye Miss American pie commercial where the guy leaves his girl friend out to listen to his car radio

Lady in Red Pizza commercial

Denture commercials

Crest white strips commercials last year used to make me turn off the TV (not just switch the channel)

I particularly revolt when I have to sit through 10 minutes of commercials without a break. I don't even care if some of them may actually be good.
