I'm 97% sure that isn't his POTO costume. I think Yuzuru is smart enough to know how dark of a character the Phantom really is. I can kind of get idea for the R&J 2 costume, but if this is his official costume for POTO then :slink: Yuzuru, you look very happy to be a character who is a sociopath

But I'm positive this isn't it. I mean come on. Everyone knows how the Phantom is like. Come on, Yuzuru. You've seen the movie and play, right? You gotta know ;)

I am sure 99% that isn't his POTO costume. :) because it's Lottle chewing gum's ad so I guess they are applying their terrible taste on him again. I guess his costume will have the same design as the Chocolate CM but different color. Same as what happened to Mao's SP costume.

The fact that the ad costume has the POTO frills (a lot of frills) is getting me the shivers. Lol

Yep, I agree. I'm pretty sure Yuzuru wouldn't introduce his costume through a chewing gum ad either, which is why I'm changing the percentage up to 99.9%

R&J2 is getting better by the minute. Yellow Paganini is getting better by the minute.
If this is real they better be paying him ALL the money

You'll curse us WoChair! His costume might actually end up being worse than Yellow P!

He's so good looking...why they're making him wear something like that? I guess I need to start my prayers for his costume to POTO to be classy and memorable (in a good way) o_O

LOL at all the discussion circling back to the costume talk again :laugh:

Meanwhile, I'm just "selfishly" thinking how da heck can I get a set of the ever-so-tempting stamp collection set :confused2:

In the past 24 hours I have been battling with myself "No you don't really need it!" "But this is such a nice set, I WANT!" "But you can't just get your hands on everything that you desire...." "Oh man, there is Yuzu's personal comments on each program! Now I really want T_T!"

...and the battle continues XDDD

Today, All-Japan Karaoke Industrialist Association releases a new campaign for "The Day of karaoke culture” this year.

As Yuzu ever mentioned in Sochi press conference that he hoped his gold medal of OG could be a new start to help the recovery of 311, the Association decided to choose the Yuzu’s supporting song “夢に描くキセキ” as the theme song to fund raising for recovery and also cheer for Yuzu in 2018 Olympics.

They will release the original sound of song and its Karaoke version in shops from September to let people practice to sing. The campaign will start from October 17 (the day of karaoke culture) until the end of November. During the campaign period, they will donate ¥10 for each request in shops.

Let’s sing, Yuzu fans!

Today, NTV broadcast a promotion video of Yuzu's performance on August 30. Highlights as following:

* He visited the high school of Ishinomagi, the second city of Miyagi and was severely damaged in 311 earthquake. As usual, his posture of “ㄟ” got girls’ screaming.

* The theme of event this year is “small miracle, large miracle”. Yuzu answered the R&J 1 he performed in Nice Worlds 2012 was a miracle to himself. He got the bronze medal even he was not in a good physical condition then. That’s why he chose the program on August 30.

He has become much faster and decisive with his movements in time.

Here's a very short message from Yuzu about Mezamashi Live. He shows up after Kimutaku and Keiko's message.

Above is the full text in Japanese and audio download of Yuzu’s speech on August 25. It's a very wonderful speech he made so far. The content was truly reflected his long-term image I admired: humility, gratitude, determination and hard work.

He made this appreciation speech on behave all athletes with deep and powerful tone. I draftly translated the last part as following:

"Sport is very cruel. Not the hardest worker will be able to get the best results. However, if you don't work hard, you could never get succeeded. In order to get best results, we (athletes) continue having the feelings of gratitude and devote ourselves every day in future."

http://news.yahoo.com/figure-skating-medal-sweep-no-fluke-says-japan-090752437--oly.html
Tokyo (AFP) - Japan's figure skating king Yuzuru Hanyu on Wednesday warned rivals that his Olympic and world gold medal double earlier this year was no fluke, promising more fireworks in the new season.
The 19-year-old, who also won the Grand Prix Final before repeating his Sochi heroics on home ice at the world championships in March, told local media: "As Olympic champion I want people to realise that my gold medals were no coincidence -- I won them because of my ability."
"There is pressure of course but that comes with the expectation," said Hanyu, set to unveil a free programme featuring three quad jump attempts in the new season. "I'm glad people have those expectations of me. It shows what they think I am capable of. My goals are always the same. I want to win everything."

I must praise that Yuzu's good eloquence fully came in handy in such live event!

The Japan Times Sports had this to say:

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/...ss&utm_campaign=hanyu-gears-up-for-new-season
Japan Times Sports – August 27, 2014
HANYU GEARS UP FOR NEW SEASON
Yuzuru Hanyu said Wednesday he is eager to prove his gold-medal winning treble at figure skating’s biggest competitions last season was no fluke and wants to win everything in sight in the upcoming campaign.
Hanyu won the Grand Prix Final, the Sochi Winter Olympic gold medal and capped off a stunning season by edging compatriot Tatsuki Machida for the world championship gold in Saitama in March.
“I want to show people that (my success) last season was because of my ability and not just a coincidence,” Hanyu told reporters in Tokyo. “I want to win everything.”
Hanyu, who brought joy to Japan when he delivered the country’s only gold medal of the Sochi Games on his Olympic debut, is scheduled to compete this season at the Cup of China and the NHK Trophy in this year’s Grand Prix Series.
The 19-year-old will attempt to make three quadruple jumps in his free program this term.
“There will be pressure but that comes with expectations. I am happy people have expectations of me and that is because they think I can do it,” he said.

One of the girls from yesterday Chocolate Lotto Ghana fest made a blog about the event. She seems to mention Yuzuru but Google translation sucks and it mades no sense. Can someone please read and translate http://ameblo.jp/tao-tsuchiya/entry-11916677640.html#cbox

- a very quick translation...but only the general gist -cause I'm not good at it.

Hanyu Senshu is the same age as me but since he is a OGmedalist I was really nervous about meeting him.
But when we met and began talking he spoke really normally, like someone my age. I was surprised that he was such a friendly guy.
But when the CM presentation began and he emerged from the big present, I was even more surprised.
He was a different person entirely.
It's difficult to explain, like there was another Hanyu popping out in front of himself. There was a magnetism about him that was amazing.
To think that with this force he was able to perform figureskating which is both an art and a sport infront of the eyes of the world, made me almost cry.
When Hanyu answered questions, I got a sense of 'The World'.
Until now the WORLD STAGE had a nice but vague existence in my mind.
But from Hanyu I got a strong feeling that he was one with The World. This was the first time for me to feel such a thing so it left a great impression.
-Somethings she was trying to explain I didn't quite get in this last paragraph.
I want to prepare to go into the world in a similar way.

I love Japan, so much coverage for Yuzuru and his chocolate Ghana http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x24qezu_140828_sport?start=123

I am afraid it's not. http://instagram.com/p/sRHoZ_Lnty/
But I think it's just an Ad for lotte xylitol, a chewing gum brand. For sure he will not wear it to competition.

many thanks to the uploader!!

It seems Yuzu visited the school where he and his family spent some days after the earthquake..teachers treated his OGM like a newborn child

The interview Yuzuru gave in Toronto has been translated by Tumblr user @311mi. Read it here.
@311mi thank you so much!

since many people were dubious about some of the translations of the article, I went through them and found a couple of parts that were mistranslated or were perhaps lost in translation and have noted them down below. Anyone (SuzyQ?) is welcome to fix anything I might have misinterpreted though. I'm just nitpicking in some parts but overall, kudos to the translator(s)!
The words I marked in red, I would replace with the blue and the original J words are in parenthesis at the end so you can look it up in your own languages as well.
--------------

Everybody's attitude towards me has changed as well, and I can't help but feel embarrassed at times.
>>> bewildered/feel lost(戸惑い)

To me, however, the ten or so years that I've been skating for, the four years leading up to Sochi, and today and the future, it's all the same for me.
>>> they're all completely different. (全く別のものだと思っている)

There are things outside of figure skating that I really detest, but they don't affect me too much
>>> There are a lot of things that I don't really like (dislike a little)outside of figure skating but they are minor things that come with the surroundings. (スケート以外はちょっと嫌だなと思うこともたくさんあるんですが、それは周りにちょっとついてくるだけ。)

Q: Seeing as your personality is one where you tend to go with the flow, was there a time where you've been really frustrated and felt down?
>>> You look like someone who's always progressed satisfactorily with good results. Have you ever experienced a slump?(順調に結果を残してきたように見える。スランプを経験したことは。)

I think that going through frustrations and hardships is a must, and I believe that competitors at the World Championships and the Olympics are about the same as well. It’s because you’ve increased in skill that you encounter this stump.
>>> I think that it's normal to go through a slump. I believe that everyone who went to the Olympics and the World Championships experienced this, but I raised the level of my condition so high that I encountered a slump.(スランプはあって当然だと思う。五輪とか世界選手権ではみんながそうだと思うけれど、スランプになるくらいまで調子を上げたんです。)

A: Mhm, my current plan is to continue on until PyeongChang — to train hard for four years and then retire. This is why I say I want to be able to do my best in the four years to come to leave my mark down in figure skating history with good results.
>>> This is why I want to do my best to achieve good results in the next 4 years.(だからこの四年間で結果を出せるように全力を出すだけかなと思ってます。)

A: It's because it's a very sensitive topic that I can't freely talk about it. However, there are a lot of details that I feel must be let known by the public. Now I think that the only thing within my abilities that I can do to help is to not talk about the hardships and pain anymore.
>>> It's a sensitive topic so it is hard to talk about it. However, there are probably a lot of things that I need to talk about. I think I'm in a position where I'm able to do something so if it's going to help the disaster areas, then it's not such a burden.(注意がいるので、話しにくいといえば話にくい。ただ僕が話さないといけないことが多分たくさんあると思う。今の自分にはできることがあると思えているので、被災地のためになるのであれば、そんなに苦ではないです。)

Q: Once during the off season, you've went to one of the areas badly hit by the tsunami. Even after these three years, do you think that people should still continue to support them?
>>> During the off season, you went to one of the areas that was badly hit by the tsunami. What is the meaning of continuing to give your support, 3 years after the disaster?(震災から三年たったいま支援を続ける意味は?)

As long as he perfects his physique and stamina, we will definitely see an amazing sight every time he takes center stage.
>>> As long as there are no problems with his health, I have no doubt that he willl give us an eye-opening performance one after another.(体調さえ問題なければ、今季も目を見張るような演技を次々に見せてくれるに違いない。)

Question: who is the guy they introduce after Yuzuru´s segment? It looks like he knew Yuzuru.

You mean the one with the black shirt?
That's Yokoyama Yu from Kanjani8 (an idol group) who are hosting 24 hours tv this year. I don't think he knows Yuzuru... Just talked about the performance he will give there :)

By this moment I think every person in Sendai has touched that medal :)

the video is so moving , it's just like a miracle.

I perfectly remember when the earthquake hit the area and for some days there were no news about Yuzuru.. and now school teachers can handle his OGM for real and they handle it like it was the most precious thing in the world... Yuzu' s skating and personal life are strongly linked togheter, it's a very unusual destiny.

I would really like to know what they say in the clip..
