    News Definite & Provisional Allotments - Events

    From Communication No. 2097 - Decisions of the ISU Council

    In accordance with Rule 127, paragraph 2.a) of the ISU Regulations, the ISU Council has definitely allotted the ISU Championships for 2018 as follows:

    Single & Pair Skating/Ice Dance

    ISU European Figure Skating Championships to be held in Moscow, Russia** on January 15-21, 2018
    ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships to be held in Taipei City, Chinese Taipeion January 22-27, 2018
    ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria on March 5-11,2018
    ISU World Figure Skating Championships to be held in Milan, Italy on March 19-25, 2018

    Continued and/or new Provisional Allotments of 2019 ISU Championships
    In Accordance with Rule 127 of the ISU Regulations, the Council has allotted or maintained the previous provisional allotments for the following ISU Championships 2019:

    Single & Pair Skating/Ice Dance
    ISU European Figure Skating Championships to be held in Minsk, Belarus on January 21-27, 2019
    ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships to be held in Colorado Springs on February 4-10, 2019
    ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships to be held in Zagreb, Croatia on March 4-10, 2019
    ISU World Figure Skating Championships to be held in Saitama, Japan on March 25-31, 2019

    New Provisional Allotments of 2020 ISU Championships
    In accordance with Rule 127 of the ISU Regulations, the Council has provisionally allotted the following 2020 ISU Championships:

    Single & Pair Skating/Ice Dance
    ISU European Figure Skating Championships to be held in Graz, Austria on January 20-26, 2020
    ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships to be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea on February 3-9, 2020
    ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships to be held in Tallinn, Estonia on March 2-8, 2020
    ISU World Figure Skating Championships to be held in Montreal, Canada on March 16-22, 2020

    Interesting schedule. But I don't understand why in the world 2018 worlds was moved up so early considering the olympics is squeezed in after 4 c's and Euros. It just seems to me a better chance skaters will not go to worlds after the olympics I can see say the entire Russian female team being replaced.

    The Worlds schedule 2018 is probably dictated by Easter which this year is celebrated in the last week of March and a competition in Italy (where Easter is a big holiday) that week would not really be possible. The first week in April starts with a public holiday in Italy, so not really a possibility to start the competition week.
