JGP Long Beach - Comp Dance Notes & Results

Hi Everyone -- I'm back again reporting from the events I'm at. Following are my notes & some impressions along with the placements. There isn't much for the comp dances, but the results are here.

I wasn't too successful with getting the marks down but the totals for Tech, Comp & Grand Totals are correct.

Hopefully the org committee will have the results up on their web-site soon but they're not up yet.

    Thanks,
    Rosaleen

CAN Karam / McGrath Start 1 Place 3
Notes her in black & red him in white shirt & black vest & pants / first dance I've seen this year - edges seemed pretty good a bit slow maybe at times and I think their pattern shifted -- I'll have a better impression after I've seen a few others probably needs more power & speed
    tech 15.72 total 32.26 5.4 5.55 5.5 6.516.54 total 32.26

RUS Gorshkova / Butikov Start 2 Place 6
Notes black & green / right away you can see their speed is better / cross rolls didn't cross, at least with her
    tech 14.82 Comp 14.14 Tot 28.96 4.7 4.7 4.7 4.75

HUN Nagy / Elek Start 3 Place 7
Notes her in red him in black / there were parts of this dance that I thought were better than the first 2 but I'm not sure that on the whole it was the best so far
    tech 14.36 comp 13.37 tot 27.73 4.45 4.4 4.55 4.35 3rd right now

GER Kolbe / Boll Start 4 Place 8
Notes her in black with pink around her waist keyhole back / pattern seemed shallower than others on the weak side cross rolls were nice though
    tech 13.60 Comp 12.91 tot 26.51 4.05 4.45 4.35 4.35

USA Mallory / Holdburg Start 5 Place 9
Notes black spaghetti straps rose on hip / cross rolls didn't cross / seemed a bit 'swingy and a bit out of control on the free legs at times /
    tech 13.42 comp 12.55 tot 25.97 4.15 4.05 4.25 4.30

LTU Frey / Stagniunas Start 6 Place 11
Notes her in black with pink ruffle skirt halter / bad mismatch of legs on 2nd pattern near start / slowed to a crawl on 2nd pattern at her twizzle /
    tech 11.48 comp 9.64 tot 21.12 3.1 3.35

CAN Lamoureux / Mee Start 7 Place 2
Notes her in black with asymetrical cutouts blond tall / by far the best cross rolls so far (they're right in front of me so that's one thing I really notice) edges were noticably deeper than others / nice upper bodies - good power /
    tech 16.9 comp 15.65 tot 32.55 5.2 5.4 5.95 5.3

USA Matthews / Zavozin Start 8 Place 1
Notes her in yellow with black him in black with bolero trimmed in yellow / cross rolls were only soso not much cross but they had good speed & danced it with a nice pattern /

RUS Gorshkova / Tkachenko Start 9 Place 4
Notes her in red with asymetrical back/ think she dragged one foot a bit on twizzle heard scrraping / very good speed & flow / no real cross on rolls / nice general impression
    tech 15.88 16.11 tot 31.99 5.35 5.4

HUN Mandics / Saritz Start 10 Place 10
Notes her in black & red / seemed t start the dance earlier than others almost like they needed more room to get up to speed / really slow down in spots / way far apart at times / didn't seem to be dancing it /

Thanks Rosaleen. Good to see you back. When you get a second can you give us an idea of what competitions you plan to attend this year?

I'm planning on a few this year

    Skate Canada
Western/Eastern Challenge (Canadian event leading to Nationals)
    Canadians
    Junior Worlds
    Worlds

Would also like to go to Jr Canadians but it's a bit unlikely that I can get the time off work.

    Rosaleen,
Thanks so much for your reports. For those of us who don't get to go to the events, you make it feel like we were there
