As Ivan turns parts of the Southeast into a vast inland sea, our attention now turns to yet another hurricane and this time it is ladies turn with Jeanne. Jeanne is currently over the eastern end of Hispaniola.
Hurricane Jeanne will prove to be a most intersting problem as this baby will be aound for quite awhile. Being trapped by a developing high pressure to the north and weak steering currents, Jeanne will probably wander around the Bahamas, up to the Carolina coast and back to Florida, possibly into the Gulf, then back over Florida then up the east coast around the 28th. If you think I am making this up, one model (AVN) actually shows Jeanne making this pattern. So it looks like Jeanne will be the figure skater of the hurricane season, doing a perfect pre-juv pattern over the next 10 days to two weeks.
So get out your hurricane plotting charts junior meteorologists because here we go again.
