After just 3 skaters, Buttle has about a 12 point lead over Sandhu and Jahnke! That's quite a lead.

Did Sandhu and Jahnke mess up, or did Buttle do that much better on the second mark? (or whatever it's called now. brain fart)

Sandhu had a rough skate. Ryan had some minor issues but got marks that seemed too low. In fact, the asst technical specialist had some issues with the technical specialist on the calls. It was quite interesting to see her "speak her mind" quite adamently.

WOW, Jeffrey has a huuuuge lead! I´d guess that a catastrophe had to happen to prevent him from the win...

Watching Ben Ferreira skate is like poking your eyes with hot irons: something you don't want to do. I don't care what kind of marks he got, his basic skating and posture is at a novice level. I can't believe that Rod Black thought it might be equal to Buttle's program. Oh wait...Rod Black still doesn't know anything about skating after ten years of hosting it.

The fact that Jahnke had lower TCS marks than Ferreira and Honda says that CoP isn't working to perfection. Jahnke could outskate these two with his eyes closed.

Mike - Ben seems like a nice guy but I agree, he lacks the basics of figure skting.

Buttle always had the potential. Now let's see him keep the momentum for the LP. Lindemann must have returned to life. Jahnke and Sandhu have their work cut out for them. Looking forward to reading or better yet seeing, Kevin vdP on TV. There are points here for the Final. Who will get them?

I think that the results were reasonable. I was a bit suprised to see Ben Ferriera in 2nd place. However if Evgeny Plushenko were competing here (he was scheduled for this event), he would have the other competitors blown out of the water. I don't think that any other skater in this competition can match his artistry or technique because he is that good.

Takeshi Honda on the mend?

Did anybody see how Takeshi Honda did? I see him in 5th place. Inquiring minds want to know! :)

In fact, looking just at the component scores, the order is

Buttle (36.75)
Sandhu (34.55)
Lindemann (33.10)
Van der Perren (31.94)
Honda (30.85)
Ferreira (30.60)

Then Janke and Dambier tied for 6th/7th with 30.05

I didn't see the performances, but this seems low for Van der Perren, too.

It was Janke's component scores I don't understand. Why so low? His edge quality and muscality not so far behind Eman and Jeff of not just as good as them.

Not having seen this competition, I can only speculate as to why Sandhu might have gotten higher scores than Jahnke. I would say it is because he is the 2004 Grand Prix Final Champion and has much more international experience and exposure. Many people also consider him to be a beautiful skater with so much potential. So, I'm not saying he did/didn't deserve those scores, but that might explain why they are higher than Jahnke's. This is only Jahnke's second Grand Prix event ever! I hope Ryan has a stellar LP and whips some butt.

P.S. Good for Lindemann!

That's incorrect. Ryan competed at both Skate America and Skate Canada last season as well, and at Trophee Lalique in the fall of 2000. So it's actually his fifth time at a Grand Prix event.

The point is Plushenko is not competing in Skate Canada - so their is no relevancy.

Thats way to harsh. I agree that maybe Ben was overmarked on PCS but on the technical side of things he is incredibly consistent and solid. His was one of the only tripletriples of the night which is pretty disappointing but he is an incredibly nice guy and works so hard. He doesnt need that. I agree on the Rod Black thing though and his program wwasnt equal to Jeffs.
