Test of new point-system judging
At Worlds some newspeople were invited to score along with the judges and test out the proposed judging system whereby points are awarded for each element. Here is the first-person report from Detroit Free Press columnist Jo-Ann Barnas.

I was interested to see that in addition to points plus or minus for technical elements like jumps, there were also score for "artistry" in five areas: "skating skills, transitions, performance, choreography and interpretation. Each area is graded on a scale of 1.0 to 10, with increments of .25."
