Delobel and Schoenfelder have filed a complaint over the technical specialist because that called their step sequences a Lvl 2 when they were clearly Lvl3. This happened in the original dance. More on this as the story develops.

I believe they were very close in the component scores, and that's what it should be. They are the most lyrical dance team I've seen since T&D. It's all music, and not that thing they call passion when a skater shows 'suffering' on their face.

I don't know if they would move up if the complaint is legitimate. I don't know enough about dance, but I am learning. Anyone know what happens with this complaint? or do we wait until May to find out?

I believe the complaint is regarding a mistake made by the Caller. Apparently their footwork section was "called" level 2, it should have been "called" level 3.

GREAT START ALREADY!!

All it's going to take is a few incidents like this and they're going to wish they had left the judging system well enough alone. Whoever these Callers are, they better get it together by Torino. All we need is a Paul Hamm type controversy only 4 years after the LeGougne fiasco in SLC and 8 years after the alleged "bloc judging" in Nagano.

Good points, JonnyCoop. The officials do receive a copy of the program. If the footwork is outlined in the program, then they would know what level it was even before it was skated. Of course there could have been a last minute change. If they skated it poorly that is no business of the Technical staff but it is of the judges. My question remains, however, will we know the outcome soon or ever?

P.S. My Gynastics judge friend spoke to me about the Hamm controversy. Although she is a judge of the Ladies only, all the judges were on their toes with this complaint. Apparently the tech officials were wrong and were disciplined on the spot. Can you imagine that in figure skating? The results which came fairly soon after showed that had the tech official been correct, the Korean guy still would not have won. They went over the tapes of the whole exercise and he had many faults which were not counted including the controversial trick.
These two athletes have to live with that because officials got it all wrong. Sad.

Wouldn't it be easier if all the skaters' elements were presented to the technical specialists ahead of time, so that a value could be assigned? Obviously, if changes are made, then the element needs to be reviewed, but I'm sure this could still be done right before the competition starts. That would eliminate the protests after the fact. if the skaters didn't agree with the assignment, they could discuss it before anyone competes. Maybe I'm being too simplistic here...
