Thanks Jaana for the heads up. What could be more invigorating than Browning and Kulic on the same program?

That's SUNDAY, November 28. I have a fetish for listing the day of the week along with the date for events, programs, etc. Just saves us from scrambling for our calendars, etc.

Thanks so much for posting the links. Just one small note: Brian Orser is listed as a two-time World champion, which is false. Brian won one World title, in 1987.

I saw the last few minutes of the program. It was very good. I just missed Brian Orser's skate, but caught Kurt and Kristi (nice to see Art Garfunkel there as well!!) what a treat.

Wish I had known and tuned in sooner.

This show will unfortunately be Ilia Kulik´s only appearence on TV in USA this season... Just mentioning the matter, so that nobody will miss the Kristi show broadcast! There were many more appearances for Ilia in past season and hopefully will be in 2005 too!

Of course live one can catch Ilia on 14 different spots on the SOI tour:

I just looked this up on Yahoo's TV schedule. For all you folks (like me) who live on the west coast, it will be on from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. If it's of any interest, it will be preceeded by a Carly Patterson gymnastics special at 12:30 (all on NBC). ;)

I saw Kristi this morning skating to a kinda jazzed up Over the Rainbow. That gal hasn't aged one bit. She looks terrific and she skates with so much flow. That's another reason to watch her show on Sunday.

I forgot to set the recorder. I wonder if this will be in her show?

Does anyone know the artist for some of the programs that were aired on tv? I know the obvious ones like Simon and Garfunkel, Michael W. Smith and Kimberly Locke, but i'm not sure of the rest and I don't know the names of the opening songs.

Renee Roca just might be the most gorgeous woman on the planet

I never really noticed this before, but Gorsha Sur looks sort of like someone took Clay Aiken, Ben Stiller and Johnny Rotten and morphed them into one person. But then, when in such close proximity to a babe like that, no one is going to look great by comparrison :p

This was an interesting special. The theme was a little too broad, since something like 95% of all pro skating routines are already performed to music with roots in America. One of those tunes that Orser skated to obviously wasn't American (I wasn't even sure of what language that was), but I was glad he also picked a more obscure Neil Diamond song this time, instead of one of the usual big hits.

Rene Roca was super! In every number she was in it worked in her favor. What a talent.

And did anyone notice the arabian cartwheel Ilia executed? I remember way back when many pro skaters were working on it, Many did it on the floor but could not do it on the ice. And in this case, Ilia shot right into a falling leaf and a half! Never saw that before. MK take notice.

I'll miss him Jaana even though he always looks bored while in the corps numbers.

Kurt was vintage and thoroughly entertaining. Kristi flowed and flowed and flowed. Beautiful skating.

I noticed that when the credits rolled at the end, she was listed as "Assistant Choreographer." A true renaissance woman.

LOL, Joe, so that is the way he looks to you... Anyway, Ilia seems to enjoy those ensemble numbers, because he is really, really great in them. Sometimes I even think that he should bring something extra he shows in them into his solo programmes!

Idleracer, the song that Brian skated to was by Josh Groban. It was in another language, but he is American. I love that cd! :)

I hate to complain (seriously I hate it when I do LOL) but I was annoyed with a few things.

The version Kristi used of Over The Rainbow by Kimberly Locke was hideous. I was screaming at the TV This is the greatest song ever written, the number one song of the whole 20th century, the least you could do is sing it with a little respect! How is it no one sings that song any better than the 17 year old Judy Garland? The only version I've heard that I enjoy is the one they played at the end credits of COI 02.

Not only that but how much skating did we actually SEE during the live performances? As usual, the cinematographer needs to be put in real concerts where he'll do more good instead of ruining the view with people standing and singing instead of people skating. Always the case with NBC. And A&E last year with Holiday Ice Dreams wasn't much better during its live performance.

Other than that, I loved it!
